2020 EZONE 98 vs EZONE 98 previous

I updated to the 2020 version from my loved DR’s this year. I’ve had it for roughly 5 months and just cannot get dialed in with it no matter how much customizing I do. I think it may be time to move on.

My serves are good, but my ground strokes are lacking pace and I’m having an issue generating spin compared to my DR’s. I hit a whippy forehand so generating spin shouldn’t be an issue, but it is.

For those who have hit with the 2020 98 and the previous EZONE for an extended time, can you give any feedback between the two regarding ground strokes, power, and spin?

I did demo the previous along side the 2020 several months back but it was only for a few hours.

Thanks.

Originally tried matching my DR’s but it felt miserable.

The 2020 98 will never play like the DR 98 unfortunately. Different layup (2020 hoop is more firm) and different weight distribution (2020 has relatively more weight in the throat and low/mid hoop). Two things that will help with pace and spin: 1. softer string bed by lowering the tension or adding a soft main/cross and/or 2. add at least 5 grams concentrated at the bottom of handle - you could open the trap door and add bluetack for example. Both these options will soften the response of the frame.
