-Mad Lad going on a mad run. Getting better and better with every tournament.
-Tsitsipas having a phenomenal year, beating all the big 3 members in the same year.
-Shapovalov winning his 1st title.
-Zverev showing signs of life
-Resurgence of Murray and Wawrinka.

Boy, does 2020 look tasty or what. Shall I say, we are in for a truly 'epic' ride next year. How much longer can the big 3 hold off the inevitable storm?

Djokovic lost in the 2nd Round of 2017 Australian Open.
Djokovic lost in the 4th Round of 2018 Australian Open.
And he's even more vulnerable now :)

Rafa would have won the last 3 US Opens if he didn't get injured at 2018uso semi, so he's a bigger favorite there than anyone is at the AO or Wimbledon :)

Don't know how tasty it is.
I could still bet money that Djokovic wins at least 2 or 3 slams. (Maybe even all 4 in the extreme case).
Nadal could probably also win 1 and so could Fed.
All in all, I STILL see all 4 slams going to the big 3.

All these next gen will count for NOTHING if they don't win at slams. TsiTsiPas has done NOTHING at slam, Zverev is the slam GOAT of 5 setters against unranked players, Shapavalov has shown nothing, Wawrinka is too old and Murray is NOT the same player.

The only guy left is Mad lad. He is the ONLY story for 2020. For all the hype about him, I don't see him doing anything against Novak at slam level. I think AO 2020 Novak would be pumped to prove a point and if it's Novak vs Medvedev it will be beatdown city. That being said, if Medvedev DOES win a slam, it will be GREAT news for Tennis.

Keep in mind that BIG 3 have won 51 of the last 59 slams - That's almost 15 years of dominance! I don't see that changing by anyone other than Medvedev.

There is always a first time for everything. Maybe it won't be next year, but at some point the Next Gen will arrive even at Wimbledon.

Excellent and powerful message. As you have stated with accurate precision, only Medvedev has the potential to challenge the dictatorship stablished by the Big 3 in Slams.

Poor Thiem, no mention in the thread at all. I put him only slightly behind Med as favorite to be the next first-time slam winner since USO 2014. He's got 2 slam finals and more Big 3 slam wins than Med.

None of them reached a Slam final, nor did they reach 6 consecutive finals, so your analogy makes no sense.

Excellent post. People are ignoring Medvedev at their own Peril.
He's reached 6 consecutive finals obviously. But Medvedev's fight against Nadal in the UsOpen 2019 Final - that alone indicates a future champion.
Honestly, unless he gets injured, he should win multiple slams and possibly challenge Novak to #1. The only question is when and if Medvedev ready for 2020.
After Delpo (whose career was derailed by injury), Medvedev IS seemingly the first person who can break the big 3 stranglehold.

Federer is 0 for his last 7 slams, what is he helping to hold off?

Federer was literally a serve away from another slam this year. Let's not act as though this is a 2013 like year for Fed. He had a great American Spring, making the final at IW, winning Miami. Had a decent clay court swing, losing RG semis to Rafa (notably in the worst wind-affected match I have seen). Had a really good Wimbledon, beating Rafa in the semis and losing out on the title by a whisker. Apart from the pathetic USO swing, Fed has had a good year. He will still be a factor at AO and Wimbledon. He will always be a factor at Wimbledon till he plays.

Let's not get ahead ourselves. Wait until he beats one of the big three in a slam. Until then, he's operetta, not opera.
He was close to beating Nadal in the USO final. He's getting there. Kinda getting the late 2003 Fed feels from Med. Fed was on a demolition spree that fall, setting the stage for 2004. Similarly, If Med can finish 2019 strong(Paris or WTF), he could go into AO as one of the heavy favorites.

He's a huge factor, my only point is that he hasn't been the one "holding the line" against NextGen for some time.

Actually, it was Roddick who was on a demolition spree in fall 2003, winning two masters and the US open in a row

I wonder how many times Federer's been 40-0 on his serve against Nadal and yet still ends up getting broken. Must be a record.

Federer with a cooler head would have been way ahead of Nadal, no doubt about it.
Nadal is one the best returners ever, though. And plays every ball like his life depends on it.

Shap, Zverev, Khachanov, Rublev and Tsitsi are still quite young. 2020 should be more telling as to where they are going with their career.

Also,
He been injured at USO past 4 years so its just been bad luck there tbh
