Felix is slated to play Acapulco right away, 4th seed, first match against a qualifier. Might be wise to blow it off, but maybe not.

Another loss for FAA. Now 0-5 in finals? I’ve watched his matches but still don’t get what people are seeing in this kid. No weapons, and his playing style is not exciting to watch.

I don't see any good thing happening going to Acapulco. He's played 10 matches in 2 weeks, if he goes deep in Acapulco he's probably gonna get worse as the tournament progresses and it's not gonna help him at all.

Title #5 for Tsitsipas, 4th at ATP250 level and 1st of the season. Also his 1st ever title defence becoming the 1st player to defend the Marseille title since Enqvist in 1998.

He now joins Monfils and Djokovic as 1 of only 3 top #10 players to win at least 1 singles title so far this season.

FAA is 1 year and 360 days younger than Tsitsipas. So the two players aren't quite on a fair same development comparison basis. Could 19 1/2 year old Tsitsipas beat 19 1/2 year old Felix? I doubt it. Will 21 1/2 year old Felix be better than Tsistipas is now, we shall have to wait and see.

Stefanos adjusted his game quite well today. He took the balls very early and suffocated FAA throughout. Not to mention some real nice net play and scorching passes from Stef. Overall Stef continues to improve and impress. FAA will get there too, soon enough. :)

didn't Tsitsipas once say he didn't think he'd ever be able to beat FAA, or was that another player he felt he couldn't beat?

Why are you even discussing whether or not a 19 1/2 year old Tsitsipas could beat Felix? This comment is unnecessarily salty, and unnecessary, period.

In any case, I'm not worried about FAA. Five finals before his 20th birthday is an incredible accomplishment, and it's really only his second full year on tour. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him nab his first title by the end of the season.

Felix needs help to get himself over the hump of winning a final. Didn't see the match but disappointed for him.

Because lots of people are attacking FAA's mental game. Tsitsipas is to be congratulated, he's a fine champion. I'm not trying to pull him down to build Felix up, I'm trying to put the loss in context. I agree with the rest of your comment. The main take away from Felix's 0-5 record is that he made 5 finals at the age of 19 1/2. The main takeaway from this match is that Tsitsipas is a great player worthy of high respect. Both are.

New Benneteau in the making
Can you explain the comparison you are making a little more? I looked up Benneteau's record and he was yet to play at the ATP level by the time he was 20, actually he was mostly playing futures then and I don't see him making even the final of a future's tournament by 20.

He went like 0-9 or something. The comparison is in the suggested future record of FAA. I don't agree, of course.

There’s plenty of time between Acapulco and a 2R IW match. He gets a 1R bye there at the 96-draw M1K so even if he goes deep at Acapulco he has a nice break.

Stef hasn't improved well enough. Yes, he won another 250, but what about the AO?

To put things in context, he was relatively unknown 2 years back, losing to Shapo in 2R of AO, and not really considered among the brightest young stars. His rise has been the most impressive along with Med. He has beaten the big 3, reached a slam SF, and won 5 titles in a year including the WTF. I'd say he is ahead of the curve, ahead of his peers and is getting better and better. Won't be long before he breaks through with a deep GS run (at least a final).

He has also been in Masters 1000 finals (2 I think) and has good wins against almost everyone. I'm not his biggest fan but he is probably the star of the future. If anyone is going to win the slams it's probably him. I don't know that I see Shapovalov or FAA winning a slam at least not at this point in their careers. They haven't gotten close. But, Medvedev and Tsitsipas are the two who've gotten the closest along with Thiem.

Why, what did he say or do?

he speaks English well but he doesn’t think in English well. Not uncommon for a second language. Plus, he’s a bit self conscious and wants to say the right thing and it comes off as awkward and goofy.

Yeah, you can see in some of English after match press conferences, he sometimes has to ask them to repeat the question and he pauses a lot trying to think how to best express himself.
