This is basically like a 3rd round match
It does feel a bit underwhelming, but let’s face it: no one is touching Nadal when he’s 100% apart from Djokovic, Thiem and maybe hot Kyrgios. This is basically like a 3rd round match
Surely a totally unbiased opinion on your part to leave out a certain someone. It does feel a bit underwhelming, but let’s face it: no one is touching Nadal when he’s 100% apart from Djokovic, Thiem and maybe hot Kyrgios.
A certain someone is out of the tour right now.Surely a totally unbiased opinion on your part to leave out a certain someone.
So if he was playing Indian Wells you'd put him in that group?A certain someone is out of the tour right now.
How can one concentrate on playing tennis with such HOT BALLGIRLS around you!!![]()
I guess. Federer tricked Nadal into believing they’re buddies or something, and Nadal now thinks he should play every time he faces Federer like it’s Match for Africa. So if he was playing Indian Wells you'd put him in that group?
And that's why I always defend him on that. It works. He should never stop until he's forced too. Unfortunately there are only 2 guys on the whole tour that are capable of actually making him move in with their serves.People go on and on about Rafa receive position but it works for him and he tops the league table for ROS points won.
Don't wait for a response. He passed out the moment Fritz had a break point opportunity.Easy win.
@StrongRule
It was a 500 against Taylor Fritz on a Saturday night.Sheesh, this match thread is dead
Not sure I want to see Rafa in the sombrero![]()
Is it not a pear?Hope he doesn't forget his big avocado when he leaves for the airport in a few hour's time (like he did in 2005).![]()
It's not just his personal record. It's an ATP Open Era record.Nadal now extends his personal record to 17 years of winning at least a single title (2004-2020)![]()
It's a gourd.Is it not a pear?
I'm pretty sure it's a pear.Is it not a pear?
No. Mexico isn't famous for its pears but gourds are well used in their cuisine. It's a gourd.I'm pretty sure it's a pear.
Fair enough, but of all the gourd shapes they've certainly done their best to make it look like a generic pearNo. Mexico isn't famous for its pears but gourds are well used in their cuisine. It's a gourd.
It appears to be.I'm pretty sure it's a pear.
And those 2 guys are the guys who are the most important. That tactic drops off steeply vs top opponents. And that's why I always defend him on that. It works. He should never stop until he's forced too. Unfortunately there are only 2 guys on the whole tour that are capable of actually making him move in with their serves.
Certainly agree with you there.Fair enough, but of all the gourd shapes they've certainly done their best to make it look like a generic pear
Wikipedia says: "The winner traditionally receives a giant silver pear trophy."Certainly agree with you there.I'm too lazy to go searching for it but awhile ago the organizers themselves did confirm to some media outfit that it's a gourd, probably as far back as the last time Rafa won because that would be the last time I would have been interested enough in the trophy to read about it somewhere.

LOL that one must be one of the ugliest trophies on tour.
Can never remember which it is, but the one that looks like a spiked sex toy is the worst.

Do you mean this one, the Madrid Open trophy?
Always reminds me of a coffee mug tree.![]()
It reminds me of a tower made of rackets, with a tennis ball on top.![]()

I read about it when it was created. You would have recognised that immediately without being told?
I read about it when it was created.
Yes, if I take a closer look at a picture. But would you have recognised what it was supposed to be if you hadn't read about it?
I saw the highlights and looks like Nadal's fearhand is back! Also he was serving great. I think he is a lock for FO unless Djoker reaches 2011 form, will be tough for anyone to take him out.It does feel a bit underwhelming, but let’s face it: no one is touching Nadal when he’s 100% apart from Djokovic, Thiem and maybe hot Kyrgios.
