Hmm. The plot thickens. Now could I get it off without scratching it all up? Could be a worthy experiment.
Yes, wet-sand with 1200-1500 grit sand paper.

Only the RF97 retains the traditional Pro Staff butt cap. It is now black to match the racquet. The Pro Staff 97 and Pro Staff 97L have the infrared butt cap as found on the current Blade, Ultra, Clash and Burn line.Geoff, reading wilson's description aside from a change in teh kevlar positioning of teh weaves they speak of a different buttcap that will be more ergonomic. Have you noticed anythign like that? Does it refer for example that they dropped the current one with sharp edges and instead used a buttcap to the likes of a one used in the blade series with more rounded edges, or the buttcap has a different shape? (don't know how this can be of course...)

oh no, thanks for letting me knowNot in the US. I have not heard of one anywhere else either. I think the only S models are the Burn series and the Blade in certain regions outside of the US.
My 1st Gen RF97 Black was peeling the velvet too. I ended up just fiddling around with it/peeling it further off while I play. It was sort of gross, like I am peeling skin. But an all glossy black racquet is kind of nice. hahahYes, wet-sand with 1200-1500 grit sand paper.

Yea that was weird. Either they got it wrong on the site or it is a 98.It's called Pro Staff 97 v13, but the spec says 98 sq in. Description says denser string bed. Will be interesting to see how it feels.
typo on Wilson official site. It's 97sq.in.Why 98sq.in. for PS97 ?
actual weight will be 312g w/o wrapper. It's 97 sq inch. And 315g. Must be a typo on the product page. Mine was dead on the weight.
I guess Wilson is cutting the cost by using the cheap syn grip, not even Fairway leather grip. We all know it is the end of PS era, very soon UNLESS there is another Pete Sampras from any country after RF.
That's probably part of the "feel" they said is being changed up. If it's the newer wilson synthetic grip on the clash/blade (forget the name), it does help quite a bit with softer feel with less harshness/vibration. I exchanged it out for a leather grip on both the blade and the clash and they became significantly worse feeling comfort wise. I switched back. So while it is kinda cheap and rips easily if you aren't careful, it's a solid replacement grip.
Do you have any more??
Picture of the new six one?

Wilson said the 18x20 wasn't going to be part of the pro staff line/release. WTH?!

It seems to me that this stick is part of a forthcoming Pro Stock line (?) that Wilson is planning for the end of the month. There is another thread going about it. People are talking about mass produced H19, H22 frames. Crazy.Wilson said the 18x20 wasn't going to be part of the pro staff line/release. WTH?!
Only one I've seen so far...
Yeah, the message that I got from Wilson made it sound like there would be a Pro Staff line and a Pro Stock line. I'm not complaining, this aesthetic looks great. And it being a true 6.1 with a 95 head and 331g weight. I'm about to start selling kidneys. It seems to me that this stick is part of a forthcoming Pro Stock line (?) that Wilson is planning for the end of the month. There is another thread going about it. I may have to as well. Never played with a six one 95. Too stiff got me. Absolutely despise the string pattern. There’s literally no chance I will ever play with it. But I want it.That’s it. Totally getting the new 6.1 95. Even i mainly played with the 16x18 version. No way am I passing up on that paint job. I’m appreciating 18x20 setups these days anyway.
It's funny, I feel the same about open patterns. I truly despise them. The nCode 6.1 95 18x20 is a legendary frame IMHO and I have one incoming right now. And it's going to have quite a few brothers by the looks of this leak we got today.I may have to as well. Never played with a six one 95. Too stiff got me. Absolutely despise the string pattern. It’s a strange one isn’t it. How a couple more strings can have such a massive affect on how a racket plays. I’m slowly building up my collection. I’m 20 so the collections quite young yet but it’s slowly getting there. And being a fed fan, getting a full collection of pro staffs and six ones is my main priority. That, and radicals. And so I think the ncode will be in my hands pretty soon as well fingers crossed. It's funny, I feel the same about open patterns. I truly despise them. Oh crap maybe I should've waited before jumping on the normal PS97. That gloss is just beautiful
It really does look gloss..
It really is. I started out on open patterns and discovered I wasn't a spin junkie. The 18x20 pattern sticks just let me play the way I wanted to so I've never really looked back. I'm picking up the older 6.1 models and other frames like the PC600 right now because they are GOAT level racquets. It’s a strange one isn’t it.
