2017 match was close and well played. Balance has swung to Thiem now, but dangerous draw.
Tim 3-1 vs Diego on clay, but in the slow conditions this will be to Schwartzman's benefit because it will take the serve out of play and put much more on the ground stroke game and Diego does have good power to hit though people.

Tim would be greatly aided by Diego losing earlier as the likely grueling match kiss of death before looming Nadal SF. Should be Rafa's draw.:mad: Tim moral #2 seed at RG.

Hmmm, given the draw, given the conditions, I actually think this might be Djokovic's French Open. Really hard to pick against Nadal at RG, but I think I'll end up doing so this year.

Bottom half starts first I guess, almost players remaining in Hamburg are from top half apart from Ruud maybe so looks like nadal first match on monday and cilic/thiem Wawrinka/murray on sunday/monday

Thiem handled Cilic easily at USO. The one advantage Cilic may possess is getting three matches in on clay at Rome, including a 2&2 beatdown of Goffin. However, power clay player Ruud then routed Cilic 2&6 so he may get overwhelmed by Li’l Thiemmie’s aggression.

Another slight advantage Cilic might have is that Thiem tends to be a slow starter at slams, rounding into form as he progresses in the tournament. He'll also be coming in to RG cold for once, not having played any warm-up clay events.

If a few managed a set that would be something. Some good ground games so Nole will have to work some for this handout. Garin R16 might be decent. QF opponent could be Berry as that lower part of the quarter pretty weak.

He had the perfect amount of play at Rome and also the last three or four years he’s had some good ones on clay; that match is no joke.:sick:

Nadal has the easiest quarter....but THEN he faces the Thiem quarter ("the death quarter", with Timmy, Ruud, Schwartz and Coric) in the SF!

The second quarter is interesting, with any one of Tsitsi, Shapo, Rublev, Dimi and less likely, MadLad and Lajovic. It will be interesting to see who comes out of that. The other quarters seem almost like slam-dunks.

Blindly i choose Rafa, not because of am big fan.. but this is Rolland Garros. Honestly, this is great chance for Djokovic to make double slam record which i think going to forever.
Nadal is not going to make 2nd week for many reasons.. but he is not done yet.
