Djokovic quarter hard to pull 2nd favorite, chose Garin over RBA and Berry. Wawrinka and Medvedev not in poll due to form on clay and lack of play. Shapo and Tsits from bottom of Medly quarter. Rublev in place of Medly from the top though Lajovic’s form and power might be real asset fot the likely slow condition. Sorry @James P for the disrespect; Medly has the draw to prove me a fool.
Not only a roof this year, but lights on many courts.
Covid-19 seems out of control. Some ticket sales allowed for three main stadiums with higher percentages of seats taken than in Rome or Hamburg, but now 5000 per stadium dropped to 1000 and not a good trendline for Fraudget and Company; any wonder who those new ballls are for?
Djokovic and Nadal go for slams 18 and 20 respectively. Their form at Rome today was not the best leaving open a lot of possibilities perhaps like 2016 US Open. Thiem also a strong favorite.
Dangerous fasterer ball, no? (under contract the next five years)
In 2011, the French Open switched to Babolat from Dunlop, and players claimed that the balls bounced higher and played faster. Babolat, in the ball business since only 2001, blamed a lack of rain for creating hard, fast courts. Nole.
They've been chosen, but one wild card actually qualified for the Qually tournament on his own accord, so I believe there is still a floating wild card available. They almost always use it on Frenchies though.
Danger scenarios for top seeds:
1. Thiem - Coric, Ruud, or Krajinovic R32
2. Nadal - Khach or Diego R16, Coric or Ruud R32
3. Nole - Krajinovic or Ruud R32, Wawrinka or Khach R16
4. Tsits - Sinner, Wawrinka or Shapo R16, Coric R32
5. Zverev - Murray, Coric R32
Ruud is a legit dark horse to win this event:
1. Excellent stamina at Rome where he had to qualify
2. Strong clay serve game
3. Nadal rpm forehand that is relentless when on.
Only other is Shapo or maybe Medly if others pick off the top players.
Not only a roof this year, but lights on many courts.
Covid-19 looming large as 2nd wave of cases and increased mortality rates happening with Qualifiers starting Monday. Rome will allow spectators for SFs and Finals the next two days. Roland Garros scaling back tickets and could well be on the way to perhaps the first few rounds without fans. At the moment they plan to only sell tickets for 30% of the new Chatrier stadium with no other ticket sales.

Fognini, Schwartzman, Khachanov, & Wawrinka loom for the top 4 seeds in the Round of 16 (all proficient at RG and Schwartzman still playing in Rome so Rublev could drop down into this group which is no better for the top seeds)
Coric, Ruud, and Krajinovic notable in the 25-32 group (Ruud still playing in Rome) and prospective Round of 32 opponents for the top 8 seeds.
Dangerous unseeded players; Cilic, Nishikori, Murray, & Mikael Ymer (stamina/grinder)
If I remember correctly, 2016 French Open was won by Djokovic over Andy Murray in the final. Also, Rafa Nadal withdrew early because of an injury that year. I seem to recall he withdrew prior to his 3rd round match. Kind of feel like the only possibilities that the Nadal withdrawal really opened up was for Novak to win his first French or Stan Wawrinka to repeat from 2015.
Not sure how much of a threat I'd consider Wawa and Nishikori considering they were both taken out by the 18 year old kid Musetti in Rome. And Stan got bageled in the first set too... They don't look in good form at all for a run at RG.
