Ugh Bianca withdrew as well.
I hope she can play a full season next year. At least she will have a tonne of HC tourneys to go at (presuming they go ahead), if she just calls this season a day. Otherwise, hopefully she plays a few of the later tournaments this year.

OMG - Serena is playing then?!

The right decision in my opinion. All it will take is the right draw to open up for her to get #24 in my opinion. Obviously movement on clay is a huge thing so I still favour the 3 I mentioned earlier, but I'm glad to see she's there!
That looks photoshopped... and I don't mean Serena!
The following photo on the Instagram link is truly creepy!

When it comes time to do a poll can we please not include Bencic or Sabalenka. I know they’re ranking would put them in a poll position but they aren’t winning. Someone like Muguruza would be a better option.

Probably not too many people keeping an eye on qualifying.

USO doubles champ and former #2 Vera Zvonareva is playing.

A QFist 17 years ago she's on the comeback trail yet again, smoked #11 qualy seed Vikhlyantseva 6-1 6-2. Faces Arina Rodionova then a potential Final qualifying round against Niculescu.

The top half is brutal Halep, Bertens, Svitolina, Vika, Serena.
The top quarter is crazy.

#1 Halep
#25 Anisimova (made the SF last year beating Halep so now they’ll play in the 3R).
#24 Yastremska
Hsieh
Swiatek (made the 4R last year and at the AO this year) v #12 Vondrousova (last years runner up).

#9 Konta (SFist last year) v Coco Gauff!
Shelby Rogers (USO QFist)
#20 Sakkari
#28 and 2004 champ Kuznetsova v Aus Open QFist Pavlyuchenkova
Siniakova (4R last year beating Osaka)
#5 Bertens

So in the one quarter are the 3 SFists from last year: Anisimova, Konta and Vondrousova. As well as the #1 Seed and former champ Halep. Not to mention former champ Kuznetsova, Former SFist Bertens. And then Pavlyuchenkova, Gauff, Hsieh and more.

Powerhouse 1R matches to watch:

#15 Vondrousova v Swiatek. Both did well last year, shame to lose one so early.

#9 Konta v Gauff.

#28 Kuznetsova v Pavlyuchenkova. Didn’t realise Pavs ranking dropped so low which is odd since she made the Aus Open QF this year.

#17 Kontaveit v Garcia. Kontaveit just continuing to be under the radar but making waves. Garcia a former QFist, the pair jusy played eachother in the 2R of Rome.

Bouzková v Kanepi. Bouzková does a lot of damage at tournaments that aren’t slams. Meanwhile, Kanepi does her best at the slams.

Pironkova v Petkovic. This one less so much but Pironkova coming off her USO SF run and a former RG QFist while Petko has made the RG SF a while back now.

#14 Rybakina v Cîrstea. Should be a fiery one.

#12 Keys v Zhang.

Siegemund v Mladenovic.

#19 Riske v Gorges. Also didn’t realize Görges ranking had dropped off for her to be unseeded.

Ostapenko v Brengle. As said, Ostapenko at RG either loses first round or wins the tournament so Brengle has a good shot.

What's the deal with Zhang Shuai being the only Chinese player entered into the MD of RG? About 4-5 Chinese who would have been direct entries have withdrawn. Xinyu Wang and Xiaodi You were entered into Qs but lost in R3 and R1 respectively. I wonder if these players are based/train outside of China. I've actually not heard much about the virus in China of late - anyone know of the current extent of it over there?

Asked the same thing and someone says they have their own tourney?

Wuhan already open night club.

Rybakina currently on track for the F in Strasbourg. She looks good for a RG QF clash with Mugu, unless Sabalenka or someone can stop Mugu. Rybakina has Muchova and Kenin in her 1/8th of the draw - potentially playing Muchova in R3 which could be extremely tricky.

Always funny each French Open seeing Wikipedia mention that Kerber is aiming to complete the Career Grand slam.

I mean they’re not wrong but... yeah

It wont be funny when she actually wins the French Open. It will be glorious. She is a pure tennis clinic in effect when her game is on.

Hey you know I’m a big Kerber fan, love watching her game when it’s on and she’s been going hard at training on insta lately. I hope she does it and wins. Just was saying how it’s funny seeing it easy time. Same as the mention of Serena going for 24 like it’s on every bloody slam wiki now
