Like her or hate her, Kenin is impressive. This is a girl that lost 6-0 6-0 against Azarenka in Rome. And now she's in the RG final. Besides that, who would've thought at the beginning of the year that Kenin would make 2/3 Slam finals with the real possibility (as great Swiatek is playing, there's definitely a chance) of winning 2 out of 3? That's darn impressive.

If you go back and look at the poll in the beginning of the thread Sofia Kenin is listed as 0.0 % to win. Oh we are some REAL experts here aren’t we. :-D

Swiatek and Kenin in the finals. The new breed has arrived.
If tennis ever gets back to normal it will be interesting to see how players like Andreescu, Osaka and Bary fit in.
And every year players like Gauff are improving and moving up. Women's tennis is well set for years to come.

It's only set if you have a few, rather than quite a few, challenging for titles.
If it's spread around, plus top players falling early, it won't bring in new fans.
With both the US and French missing top players, next year (hopefully a normal schedule) will be a greater indication.
But, the signs are positive- but people said similarly when Ostapenko won a few years back.

Swiatek looks like a huge ATG in the making. Unless she get completely overwhelmed by the occasion, I expect her to steamroll in the final.

You def need players with more variety like Barty & Andreescu to keep things interesting.

There's zero similarity between Kenin and Ostapenko. You must be referring to Swiatek.

Ostapenko is doing ok for the WTA, she has a Slam, won couple of smaller tournaments, played QF and SF at Wimbledon, made a final at IW, does pretty well in doubles and was in a mixed doubles Slam final. And she's younger than Barty and couple of months older than Osaka. If she'll figure out how to maintain her best game for more than 3 matches she will definitely win another slam.

On the other note Podoroska's game is really impressive, it's just a pity she had to play against a female terminator today.

Vondrousova - last year's RG finalist and 15th seed, Halep #1 seed and 2-time Slam Champ - sure, these are really "nobodies"...
6 straight dominant displays surely has to tell you something.

impressive run, but no one in the history of the game has played qualifiers in the QF and SF of a major. Imagine what sort of reaction Serena would get here if she played opponents like that in a major QF and SF...

that was a very costly error. Bye Petra!

Good. she did not hold up her game at all, thus what would have been a Cinderella story is just Kvitoiva crashing and burning--again.

Moving on...

Should be a good final. Swiatek vs Kenin.

Let's hope they keep up the energy and skill which earned their place in the final.

As I've said before, the women's tour is strong--great for the entire sport.

To be blunt why not ban players' entourage/parents/coaches from the stands or just allow coaching. End this problem

you might be right that that’s the only real solution

as a fan I’d rather see players figure things out for themselves

but since daddy Kenin has repeatedly broken the rules this tournament he should be banned from the final

let Sofia play a match by herself for once
