Who gets the title?

One, I'm loving the final because there's two players who prove the WTA is strong, no matter the ages of the players.

Two, I'm loving it because there's gang of Talk Tennis Warehouse members who hate Osaka because she's not their "little, demure Japanese girl" anymore and is now speaking up about her black identity and Black Lives Matter, and to this group, that's the worst thing on the face of the earth, as they have said about Osaka and the movement on this board. Go Osaka.

Three, I'm loving it because Vika has been relentlessly attacked on this board for years--for her on-court noise (no rational mind cared), to her dancing (...and?), her not being fond of Sharapova (oh, the horror! the crime!) and especially due to her former relationship (his race, and there's no way to deny the that and the posts made at the time), and she has made a stellar comeback when certain people were happy to write her off.

The WTA is the face of great tennis.

Love Vika's game but she's super cringe. Her dance, her tiktok and NFL questions during AO, and now Gucci/LV mask.

Wouldn't hurt me if Naomi lost tomorrow although I'm rooting for her!

Didn't realise the board hated Azarenka that much but must have missed it because I wasn't here in 2012-13.

Yes, there was much hate for Azarenka--they accused her of cheating (unproven, of course), her on-court noise (which no other players ever bothered to mention), her not getting along with Sharapova (next to no other players ever liked Sharapova, so why target Vika is something rattling around in their minds), dancing and her choice in a boyfriend. there was no end to the hate. She's on the rise again, and that's wonderful for the entire sport.

Wow, doubles final, close up of Melichar's coach who just tells and shows Melichar/Xu what to do. No reaction from referee whatsoever. Like really, at some point one can start to think that Serena was really robed two years ago.

No one saying anything about Serena's timing of that medical timeout.
She was up 40-0 and everything was dandy. But as soon as Vika fought back and got to deuce, the ankle issue pops out of nowhere.
Even the ESPN commentators sounded very partial in favor of Serena and did not make any mention of possible gameswomanship.

A very similar occurrence with Djokovic too. PCB was down 0-40 and triple set point for Djoker. PCB goes on to save them all and hold serve and on Djoker's serve it is now 0-30 and he takes a timeout.
Granted, there was a little fall. But it didn't look serious at all. Was he genuinely hurting? Maybe. I don't know. But would he take that timeout if he was up 0-30 on opponent's serve?

I'm not an Azarenka fan but it is nice to hear that she is happy playing the game again. That becomes lost at times.

According to her, she didn't used to enjoy tennis. Only recently has she come to appreciate the game and her time on court. I'm happy for her

Do we have any updates for Rome yet? It starts next week and I'm imagining Vika/Naomi are unlikely to play due to playing Fs here.
Any news as to whether Serena will play? I know she's a ? for RG as she's cautious about the crowd numbers, but what about Rome?

That would be very groundhog day.

And not in a fun "Nyles and Sarah doing a flipping the bird roulette" kind of way...

Bummed I couldn't watch those 2 semifinals (because night shifts that get very surreal from 3am onwards), but hoping for a competitive match tonight, as they are both the most in form players now (alongside with Jenn Brady). I'm absolutely neutral about the outcome, which in a way might make it more enjoyable to follow.

Azarenka hasn't withdraw yet but she will of course although we could've get Venus vs Vika on 1R!

Didn't realize Vera Zvonareva was still playing (doubles at least). Good for her for winning the US Open women's doubles title with Laura Siegemund.
