Buzarnescu is so bad. Is Hancu okay?
She doesn't look fit, no.Where are the 'Serena is fat' comments on Clijster?

2nd youngest in top 100.
95 NCH
(104)Leylah Fernandez 17.9 CAN2
Gauff is the youngest and is gone from USO.
Kenin (2) next.
How refreshing is it though to watch Clijsters in 2020. Who would have thought? It is amazing watching her crushing the ball against this current worthless gen!
Henin already tried that once, and embarrassed herself... I'd gladly welcome back Li thoughSoccer mom Clijsters is an inspiration. Henin and Li Na need to come back too and school these kids.
Neither one is particularly fit, however Clijsters movement looks better than WilliamsWhere are the 'Serena is fat' comments on Clijster?
Just tuning in. Clijsters is a bit bigger than I thought - looks like the mom she is; she has that identifable "mom" weight gain. Not that all mothers have to go through this, but it's common. That said, she doesn't look like she's moving horribly, though obviously nothing like in her prime.
yea Kimmie was never Hantuchova-esque... but she does look quite strongs, esp those legs!Just body type, Clijster is never a skinny queen to begin with.
My class buddy has 3 kids and almost no change.

24-0 for the top 24 seeds, that seems decent.
And rather unusual for the ladies.
That's incredible!! Especially in this insane "anything could happen" situation, with lack of match practice all around. Maybe the lower ranked players' training has been affected more severely by Covid? Either way, impressive stat!24-0 for the top 24 seeds, that seems decent.

Yeah! I hear on this board that Serena is too uppity. You just made one
Kim doesnt parade around pretending she is a super model, so you have to be mean to make the first claim on her appearence.

Main point was maybe we could stop with that kinda comment but I even get dragged along! welp!
I'm pretty much agree with @bluetrain4
Anyway, didn't watch complete matches, does Kim level dropped on 2nd and 3rd? The question all along is would she be able to sustain during long and consecutive matches.
The strike quality will never be gone, as does with all the other hall of famers.
Yeah! I hear on this board that Serena is too uppity.
Ha!
I remember when the hate-filled tennis fans tried to turn her into that. And as I and many others pointed out, those same people would be hating Naomi soon enough.
Gee, I wonder why.
Serena Williams sets US Open record
The six-time US Open champion logged a 7-5, 6-3 win over fellow American Kristie Ahn to secure her 102nd career victory in US Open play. In the process, she passed Chris Evert for the most wins in the tournament’s history by a man or a woman.
I was going to list my top 5 favourites but once again it's so wild on the WTA side of things - so what if someone played well in January or last week? A bunch of the ladies rock up to a major and suddenly turn it up like they haven't in 3 years.Betting odds for who'll win the title are wild:
Osaka $6 (lost a set in the 1R)
Serena $6 (barely winning matches at this point)
Pliskova $11 (lost in her first match in Cincy/NY)
Kvitova $13 (also lost in her first match in Cincy)
Keys $17 (also lost in her first match in Cincy and was the defending champ)
Muguruza $17 (had been playing very well earlier in the year)
Kenin $19 (also lost in his her first match in Cincy but thought she'd be higher
Konta $19 (just cause she made the SF in Cincy with an easy draw over Flipkens, Zvonareva and Sakkari?)
Mertens $21 (same thing as Konta, SF in Cincy with an easy draw over Peterson, Mladenovic, Kudermetova and Pegula)
Rybakina $21 (has the epic start to the year but hasn't done much in the last 2 tournaments)
Azarenka $23 (I mean I know she's unseeded and playing Sabalenka but don't think she should be this low)
Sabalenka $23 (Ditto for above)
Kontaveit $26 (Should be higher, she's 8-2 since tournaments resumed and has a good draw)
Brady $29 (because she won Lexington? No top 30 wins? She lost to Pegula in straights last week)
Anisimova $34 (don't quite get this one either, she also lost to Pegula in straights last week)
Kerber $34 (should be way higher. former #1 with 3 slams including the USO just 4 years ago? come on)
No Sakkari, Sevastova, Vondrousova, Martic, Jabeur, Riske?
Sakkari beat Serena last week
Sevastova made the QF here in 2016 and 2017 and the SF in 2018. She's got Osaka in the 3R but has defeated her twice and won sets in 4 of the 5 matches)
Vondrousova the RG finalist last year and has is the section of the draw that is wide open
Martic? The top seed in her quarter of the draw that's wide open. I mean she's just got to get through Bondarenko, Mladenovic and Vondrousova/Sasnovich/Poots to make the QF)
Jabeur has been on a roll this year.
Riske can not be underestimated.
Just think the odds are very skewed to recent results only.
We're making a similar point. I say a former slam champ is more likely to turn up at a slam than somebody like Jen Brady. That's why I think someone like Kerber or Kenin or Garbie has a better shot than Sabalenka or Rybakina. We know they can win 7 matches in a row.I was going to list my top 5 favourites but once again it's so wild on the WTA side of things - so what if someone played well in January or last week? My top 5 in NO ORDER are: Muguruza, Azarenka, Kvitova, Osaka, Serena
For me, Konta, Kontaveit (lacks experience though), and Sabalenka could do something if they turn up top form. I feel like Kerber, Pliskova and Kenin just aren't seeming a solid bet just now. Players like Kontaveit, Mertens etc can play solid but can they win 7 matches? Even if the draw opened up for them I wouldn't be sure.
Now here's another one - Rybakina - started 2020 solidly. I'd love to see her win the title but also I dislike a player suddenly winning a slam without at least 3 other titles from smaller tournaments as it's just such a huge step up in pressure and then handling that expectation at the next major!
This is Mugu and Kerber's first tournament back - I'd also note that and probably put it against them. They'll be fresh but I reckon match play and wins from the few weeks before will play into the conscience of Azarenka etc, even Osaka - I feel she won enough last week alone to not really need to play that final even though she picked up a niggle. We're making a similar point. As for my top 5:
Muguruza, Osaka, Kvitova, Kenin and Kerber and then Pliskova, Vika and Serena not far behind.
In saying that, of the last 12 slams, we've had 8 new slam champions so there's a high chance it'll be a new slam champ.
Clijsters and S. Williams are both unfit. Happy?
