Aaahhhh feels good to mute the commentary. Rusedski was really jabbering.

At least Gilbert and Goodell have it right today that Vicente is Rubylev’s coach. They accused him of cheating as Berrettini’s coach in 4R. Now all we need is Gilbert to correct his butchered pronunciation of Vicente’s name.

if Medvedev stands a little further back, he'll be in the stands
And yet nobody exploits this, just as nobody exploits it with Thiem standing so far back. The only player to even pierce this a little is Nick with the underarm serve.

Medvedev is playing SOOO far back. It's worse than a clay court.
How can he hope to become a top player or win more than one slam, playing such passive tennis?
Even the players who return serve from far back, come inside after hitting the first ball. Medvedev is content to camp there and just keep running.

I don't know but IMO Medvedev has lost the secret sauce of 2019. He is winning now, because he is STEADY. Not because he is playing good tennis.

No real "secret sauce" last year, he's always been missing that transition from backcourt to offense. But he doesn't need it against 95% of the field - mainly against Big 3

Anyone here NOT want a Medvedev v Thiem showdown?

Anyone who likes tennis would want that.
But based on what I'm seeing from Thiem and Medevev, I can CONFIDENTLY say that Novak would have creamed both.
This is a BIG LOST opportunity for Djokovic. Sort of like AO 2014 for Nadal and Wimb 2019 for Federer.

Ok. Here's my take. I did watch Medvedev quite a bit last year.
The difference I see now is that his 2nd serve in particular is not as BIG. So he's not going for as much on the 1st serves. Despite that his serve % is not as good.
Another shot that seems inferior to 2019 is the forehand. It's always been the Russian's weaker side. But this year, all he is doing is putting the ball in play and hoping for a backhand.
No wonder he lost early in the AO and also in Cincy.

Khachanov is watching this and crying like a kid left out by the group
