2020 Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 18x20 Official Thread

That's the one. Interesting that TW has it at an average RA of 65.
yeah that is true.. it's also funny to see this before the massive score inflation began on racquet reviews.. every racquet is 80-85 nowadays.. (I am exaggerating).

That is the 16x18. The 18x20 was 69 as measured by yours truly and also racquet guys. TW racquet finder also has it at 69 if I remember correctly.

But is racquet guys strung or unstrung? I wish there were reviews on the 18x20.

Oh look at me. I'm so cool because I said it first.

I thought there might be a chance for it to be around 65 when strung. Even with it being slightly stiffer, I still think it's going to be a great playing frame.

:-D - my 6 year old definitely thinks I need to work on my cool factor so you are onto something there.

Its going to be a great frame regardless! It is a Six One plus it looks fantastic! I don't think it's getting to 65 RA, though that's wishful thinking. But leave RA aside and I can tell you you'll enjoy the stick. Summon your inner Delpo!

We already know that @FourOutOfFive said it does not feel that stiff.

It will be interesting to see the other reports as they come in.

Hmm mine really didn’t feel stiff at all. For comparison the new PAVS is at 67 and imo it was quite jarring with the same string setup I used in the 6.1.

At least we got confirmation from Wilson finally, sorry that I gave some false hope that it was the ncode layup

No, I actually loved your feedback. Sometimes RA is so deceptive. Definitely need to cater for so many other variables in the equation.

Dude, your quick review was massively insightful. Numbers tell us one thing but actually hearing from someone about how a racquet plays and feels is far more useful and representative of the experience we will actually get with the frame.

I'm looking forward to more as you continue to hit with the frame.

What was your string setup again?

Lynx Tour @ 49/47. Going to lead up my other 6.1 today and string it up with Hyper G at the same tension. That neon green paired with the glossy black is gonna look hawt. I have another hit tonight so hopefully I can get a better feel for the racquets and share more info.

On the bright side now that we know it’s a HPS we can officially call it the DelPo setup with 100% accuracy haha.

That's the damn truth!

@FourOutOfFive
That's good news on The string setup. I'm going hyper g 17 in mine @48lbs. Based on what you were saying it should be a relatively solid and somewhat comfortable setup.

We also have one grand slam champion whose wrist has turned to mush after using the HPS in various paint jobs for his entire career
One does not speak ill of Delpo in this thread.

It sucks that the injuries robbed him of what should have a been a great career. The giant with the brutal forehand.

But, while I do like the HPS overall, I'll limit myself to 3 for the time being. My hunt for L4 nCodes continues.

Shhh, it's the power of suggestion. He will sell the nCode to me. He will sell the nCode to me.
Now that we know it's the HPS, no chance in hell I'm selling... :happydevil:

I came so damn close to hitting the Submit Order button while I was having my cabernet last night... but I held off! Phew... sure it's still a sweet stick tho.

I’m going to give it another shot tonight. But if I wake up feeling the same way, I’ll have a 3/8 in 9.95 condition I’ll make someone a nice deal on.

He’s still my favorite player since Pete. I miss watching him play and was crushed when he couldn’t pull off the 2018 US Open. I knew deep down that could be a last chance as a slam.

Wilson just took a bunch of my money by relaunching the Kfactor and now they will take another chunk with this new one.
LOL, same for me! Just ordered 2 of these babies...along with the new 15 prostaff bag! Someone posted this somewhere and I can empathize "I've played the least amount of tennis in the past 6 months but now own the most rackets."

Regarding the K6.1 re-release, I don't find these sticks remotely harsh. They are just incredibly solid, firm, precise, powerful - and quite comfortable actually. I've got champions choice with gut in the mains at 52/48 and it's sublime. I had K95's in the past that I sold quite a long time back that I remember being a little more firm/brassy, but too long to know for certain. These are excellent and hoping the Darth Vader 6.1s are at least as nice!

I got the new bag and I'm really not liking it; its got massive storage but I really cant stand the straps for backpack mounting it. There cushioned part is always sliding down. I think ill try the new Federer bag.

Ah, that's a bummer to hear! It looks cool but I did notice they moved the straps to the front and was wondering how that would work out. It keeps the straps cleaner and dirt off your back, but was skeptical it would work as well.

Yes they did put the straps on the right side and when you set it down naturally its right side up (unlike most where you have to do a flip as you set it down. Its materials are pretty good but not top of the line. The straps could have worked well with the cushioning if there was a way to make the cushioning to stay up to where it should lay on your shoulders... a simple Velcro patch or a button to snap it too would have made it work. Its hard to imagine this not coming up with the user tests; check out the new Federer bags and the old ones the whole strap is cushioned and its built into it.

Anyway this may not be a issue that bothers you; happy hitting!

Mine just arrived. Man this thing looks beautiful. 334g unstrung without the wrapping on the grip. Gonna string with gut/poly. Hopefully for a hit tomorrow. Exciting stuff. Let’s see if my arm can still handle it.

Should return it if it doesn't match the weight on the handle (331g). Lol.
