2020 WTA week 2; Adelaide (Premier) & Hobart

Danimal might just be the WTA player to watch this season. She is playing some serious lights out tennis.

No one will ever replace Jules, but Collins might be going on my favorite player list, especially since Domi retired.
 
Lots of new partnerships for doubles actually at this Aus Open:


Defending Aus Open champs Stosur/Zhang have split.
Stosur playing with Aussie Ellen Perez. (Seeded)
Zhang playing with former #1 Peng Shuai. (Unseeded)
Barty will play with Goerges (not sure what Vika is doing)
Dabrowski playing with Ostapenko
Melichar with Xu
Peschke with Shuurs (Peschke had been with Melichar)
Jurak will partner with the newly returned Shvedova next month
Kudryavtseva with Srebotnik
 
Won’t be mad if Barty loses. She’s playing AO on Monday, if she was to win she’d be in the final tomorrow then having to quickly adjust to Melbourne conditions on Sunday/Monday assuming no delays with weather and such. Probably for the best. Yastremska dangerous as well cause who knows what Sasha feeds his girls.
 
Man I hate watching Collins play though. Exact same game as Sabalenka, Ostapenko and Keys. Just destroys the ball going for winners. When their games on they win, when it’s off it’s just ugly. Collins alternates between hitting epic winners or abysmal unforced errors in this Barty match. Hang in a rally every once and a while instead of ball bashing?
 
Rybakina into her 2nd straight final - plays Zhang for the title. Kind of glad Watson lost as she's played a tonne of matches in Hobart including qualies. To add to that her last few matches have all been 3 setters, and she's drawn the lower ranked Pliskova in Melbourne which is winnable if she continues to play how she has done so.
 
Didn’t have time to post, great win from Barty although I hope she’s saving some stuff for Melbourne!

Unseeded Yastremska looks good on paper but she’s been on fire all week and Sasha just brings something else to his girls so watch for the potential upset in that Final.
 
I for one think Collins isn't a mindless basher, but playing the villain in front of an Aussie crowd wasn't smart. No crowd wave either?

Too bad Collins lost in a close tie break--was looking forward to seeing more of her--especially her tush. A little more seasoning and she'll be in the top three. She has phenomenal abilities and is really hot! She's what tennis needs right now to bring back some glamour--like her feistiness.

Last year, both her and Kvitova played Monday after their Sydney final.
 
Collins has awesome game--she was hitting pinpoint shots running her opponent from corner to corner, taking high-risk shots and hitting her locations. She's got the equipment, she needs to simmer down a bit, lower her intensity level and she'll be there soon--more emotional balance.
 
Bit of a choke from Yastremska. Too many unforced errors, double break points for Ash to serve for it.

And there’s another one, Barty breaks and will serve for her first title in Australia.
 
Maybe I’m wrong, but at 7:25, someone in the crowd yells out. I think this was enough to throw off Collins from executing her shot. I know she’s a pro and all but “Come On” people stfu especially during a match point tiebreaker!!!

Didnt get to see it. How was the play from Simona? Had heard that she played ok/so-so but Aryna was "the girl on fire". Halep apparently had hit a respectable 12 winners with only 6 UEs (& 2 DFs). But Saba was a monster on serve returns and hit tons of rally winners. Is that what you saw?
 
Yeah, one of those matches where Aryna was bombing & the opponent really didn’t matter.

And of course they were wearing identical kits, but their size difference made it quite easy on TV.
