Djokovic and Medvedev both have to win for meeting each other in the final. If Nole can win the semis match, he would have 8 finals at YEC. Only Lendl 9 and Federer 10 would be ahead. Federer lost 3 finals to Nole here too and 1 to Nalbandian.

And now Djokovic will face Norrie. The difference of level between Ruud/Norrie and Zverev/Medvedev will be huge for him. Will he be ready?

I still hope Rublev makes it. He is the only one who has maybe 5% of chance against Medvedev in SF. The match with Ruud will be decisive, assuming Ruud beats Norrie tonight.

It would be close but I’d put Novak above Fed here if he wins this event for a 6th time. They would be tied on titles and although Fed has more finals i weight the h2h 3-1 in Novak favour as the deal breaker.

I think fed is still ahead based on match wins, win% and semis and finals appearances. Plus there. H2H is it just 3-1? I thought it would be something like 3-3

I’m not sure. Yeah it’s reasonable to still have Fed ahead I guess but a case can be made for either if Novak gets 6. I think it’s 3-1 Novak as they met 4 times but not sure.

I actually checked they met 6 times. Fed won 2, Novak 3 and one was won by Novak by W/O when Fed withdrew from 2014 final.

Djokovic will tank that match. What would be the point trying to win it when he would needlessly tire himself out for a possible Zverev + Medvedev semi and final? We all know what happened when he played Zverev and Medvedev back to back the last time. He needs all the energy he can for that.

The first set against Ruud was very good and competitive. Novak was said to have drunk nine - 9 - pints of regular gluten beer the night before, though, so he would probably have won 6-2, 6-2 if he'd be wise enough to drink Coronas or something. I guess he wanted to give poor Ruud a chance, since he's known to be very kind and not ruthless at all towards the Diamond Generation.

I wish we could go a little easier on some of them. Rubles for instance is a nice guy, hasn’t talked much **** ever, and has to know he is at best a fringe top 10 player and can be happy screaming away at the baseline and being in the Russian top 3.

The vitriol should be saved for those with the games to hurt Novak who are either not here, or not here at all.

Basically every match occurred when Federer was 30 plus years old. Federer should have gotten a piece of him in 2007.
