There's usually at least one "bogey" player at the ATP Finals (that is, someone who's really just there to hand matches over to the favorites). Two years ago it was Berrettini, last year it was Rublev, and will it be Ruud this time around?

I don't think Ruud is a sitting duck vs the other 2, especially in the form they're in.

He didn't have to beat Djokovic to play a good match. We know well who's winning when both play their top level. The 1st set was interesting to watch. But it sucks (unless you're a Djokovic fan or made a bet against Ruud) when after a solid 1st set Ruud gives up two breaks with some silly UEs. This effectively turned the rest into a practice match for Djokovic.

He has been playing a decent tennis on HC (not only clay) this year... So, I would not go as far as calling him that...

No way, he has taken exactly 4 sets on HC against all players ranked in the top 20 this year, when he beat Norrie and Schwartzman.

He's top 8, but not because of his HC play.

Agreed. Djokovic is far too good for Ruud on HC. And Ruud probably doesn't belong in top 8 yet, but this is the field we've got. As a Norwegian, it's very interesting to watch Ruud and how he's improved his game. It's hard to keep your spirit up when the opponent is strolling through his service games like that, though.

I think at the beginning of the match, Ruud's forehand was actually causing Djokovic some problems. Then two things happened, Nole's game went up and the effectiveness of Ruud's forehand went down.

He is very fast and that helps, but whatever he was trying to do in the second set was not working.
