2021 ATP Sudden Death League: Wimbledon

@Aussie Darcy your intending sticking with your pick of Murray for R2T?

That may be a situation that's never come up before where someone can see if there next pick has won before deciding to use a save pick.. I appreciate that you would not be seeking an advantage and its difficult with time zones but can you please also make a provisional pick from the 2 x remaining R2T matches in case your Murray pick is invalid.

I'll check with the other mods..

I think I’m drunk cause I’m confused whats going on. I’ve just had a look and there’s only one match left in the top half and it’s Monfils who barely escaped a 5 setter vs someone i don’t know. If for some reason I’m not eligible to use the pick on Murray then I probably just won’t use my burn pick.
 
Monfils v Martinez
garin v polmans

Both start today but the Garin match is underway..

My take on the rule has always been the you indicate your gonna use a save and who your burn is and then pick your next pick at that point. Trickier with the Slams, weather delays and time zones I know.

Best to pick a winner from Monfils/Martinez in case Murray is invalid...thats if u want to use your save.

@Aussie Darcy sorry but the mods are agreed that your Murray pick should not stand. We appreciate that's it's not currently in the rules but we agree that we should tighten the loophole and disallow this one.

We are going to tighten the rules up going forward, perhaps something along the lines of..

3. Please nominate a winning player to replace your losing player and also make a new pick from players that are available to you at the time of save.

Finally had the time to look over this and how is this fair? You're seeking to punish me on a rule that didn't exist because matches were delayed and then you tried to force me to pick a backup on the 1 match left that was up in the air because you all couldn't come to a consensus on this? Rules are rarely retrospective, it should be in place going forward yet me, the #2 player (me) is being punished for something that didn't exist and as a result I have no shot at regaining #1 and let's not get into who's fighting for the top spots..

I appreciate all you work you guys do but this stinks of rotten fish. I honestly don't see why i'm being effectively kicked out of the tournament and not allowed to use my entitled burn pick. The rule should be implemented going forward, not implemented now.
 
@Aussie Darcy the 3 of us agree unanamously that you can't wait (overnight) to see the result of your next pick before you use your save. That's effectively 2 x free picks.

No one is saying that anyone was trying to gain an advantage but it's highlighted a loophole in the rules that we've corrected.

Don't like this implication I waited overnight to make my pick when i'm living half way across the globe and was somehow trying to wait and see if my pick was right or whatever you're suggesting. Anyway, hopefully next time you guys find any rules that can be applied retrospectively before you kick someone out of a tournament without any reason that is currently set out in the rules.
