I think Norrie takes it. He got overwhelmed by Ruud in that recent final but it doesn't seem to have rattled him and he's back on the horse.

His forehand looks to be hit with a bit more sting these days, and he's the sort of player you just don't want to run into with your B game. The Basil Bomber could destroy him in straights with a peak performance, but is also just as likely to blow himself up.

Nikoloz was hitting some of the nastiest I/O backhands you'll ever see, such a rare shot and to see it executed with that much pace was amazing, literally made me lol
Yeah, epic. Never seen anyone hit that shot like that.

Well, Basilashvili for a start has won 3 titles at ATP500 level so a Masters 1000 is obviously the next step up for him. So maybe quit with the gratuitous insults?

Norrie was born in South Africa to British parents (which entitles him to British nationality) but moved to New Zealand with them as a young kid and largely grew up there hence his New Zealand accent. He couldn't get any sponsorships to play tennis in New Zealand so he moved to the UK with his parents where he got the required sponsorship deals.
I thought his parents stayed in NZ and gave in loco parentis responsibility to LTA?

Also, the international saga continued when his progress in London stalled and he moved to Texas to play NCAA ball. One of his teammates is Argentine and he has morphed into his coach. With his connections at home, Norrie began training in off-season with many Argentine players including JMDP when he was on the mend.

I am really not so phased as to who is playing. These two are the best of all who entered this tournament and that is what counts. They deserve the place in the final. Should be a nice match between two people who will die on the court to win as they both equally want it...

Basilashvili attacking Norie's backhand tactics worked well in game 5. Targeting an obvious weakness. He should exploit that if he wants to win.

Easy hold of serve for Nikoloz. I think he found a recipe for this match. Nori rushing shots for some reason...

Norie's backhand is really his biggest weakness. I am not sure why it has not been exploited more by others. No flexibility, very flat and shoveling like. Basilashvili wins the first set - 6:3

How exactly would players that arent the biggest hitter in the world go about exposing Norrie's BH? You mention its flat like thats a negative...

haha

It looks like he is using a shovel - not a racquet. Obviously struggling with it. No need to be snarky ("ha ha")....

Back to the match - Basilashvili is playing very well. I think he has got this in straight sets.. 2:1 and serving..

So misinformed. You do know jealous wives have been known to initiate physical abuse on their cheating husbands. This may be what happened because Nikoloz did not camouflage his affair. Innocent until proven guilty or do you not believe in justice?
I don't know too much about his case, but he beat Federer, so I hate him.

Maybe you should blame fedr (a fave of mine) for returning to the tour on one good wheel?
Personally, I don't want Fedr to come back, thanks for the memories, but take care of your future. However I'm still upset with that match. For example, I don't hate Hurkacz or FAA for that matter.

Basilashvili is not the same case as Zverev because his case is in the Georgian justice system. Law is involved.
The woman that accused Zverev did not sue him

Basilashvili going to pull a Medvedev? At least it was only 1 break up, rather than a double break for Medvedev.

Probably will be at least two more breaks this set. Neither player has been dominant on serve, particularly second serve points where Basil went from 100% win in the first set to just 46% in set two.
