Nice on court interview with Rublev. Compared beating Medvedev to passing the University. Watershed moment for him.
Yes indeed, it would be dramatic to freak out about that, wouldn't it?Life over? So dramatic
Part of a wider accumulator sadly.
Imagine Fed not playing, Nadal not playing, Thiem injured and not playing, Wawrinka not playing and now Med possibly injured.Really hope Medvedev is okay, seriously. Need all the storylines we can get going into the USO. If he's cooked there's almost just no point.
Bet for Rublev this was personal. Having a 0-5 record got to hurt.Disgusting collapse from Med after the cameragate incident but it is what it is. I don’t think he’s injured at all: he just let that get to his head like in the US Open match against Thiem last year.
Kudos to Rublev for hanging in there and turning the tables on the rivalry. Good to see this kind of result from him since his season hasn’t been all that great since Monte-Carlo.

This could be the WEAKEST field in the UsOpen --- EVER.
To your extent where it ruins your life, yes. Why even say that?Yes indeed, it would be dramatic to freak out about that, wouldn't it?
Idk. Wouldn't it make sense for Medvedev to just push on with the camera accident injury then? And at the end his shots got funky, even before Rublev broke. That's exactly why I didn't buy these MTOs. It was more tactical IMO. Rublev was not too happy.
He's not injured, not seriously anyway, just TennisFan flaming the comment section.Wow, wasn’t expecting that. Go Rublev!
But wait, what’s this about Medvedev being injured?
Really hope Medvedev is okay, seriously. Need all the storylines we can get going into the USO. If he's cooked there's almost just no point.
He had already complained about them this week. From what I can gather Med hit one of the courtside cameras with his hand while playing. You know how he stands so far back behind the baseline?
Anyway, he threw a hissy fit and said the cameras were in his way.
May as well just hand the trophy to Novak. Only one I could see possibly beating him now is ZverevImagine Fed not playing, Nadal not playing, Thiem injured and not playing, Wawrinka not playing and now Med possibly injured.

Are they most likely to meet in the final? I think if they play in the final it would be too much pressure for Zverev. Knowing that not only can he win his first Slam but he is stopping Djokovic from getting the CYGS.May as well just hand the trophy to Novak. Only one I could see possibly beating him now is Zverev
You’re wrong. It was the left hand right after the injury. Later he had the right forearm worked on.Would have believed it had the trainer massaged the correct hand lol. He was getting his right hand massaged when he actually crashed into his left hand.

I'm hopeful, but wouldn't be surprised if the demons showed up at the most inopportune time.Zverev seems to have grown in confidence lately. Whatever his demons were, a little exorcism has taken place since Tokyo.
Zverev is the biggest mental midget in the history of the game. He could never play and serve well in a big slam match.May as well just hand the trophy to Novak. Only one I could see possibly beating him now is Zverev
Nah, you're overreacting. I think he'll be fine and ready to go.How do you know this? He has left the court.
It's not even Cincy, but his chances in the UsOpen might be gone.
Especially as they come tot he net and hit shallow angles.Medvedev's just playing too far from the baseline. When the match gets physical he is always at a disadvantage as he does way more running.
Anyway, easy pickings for Zed/Titsp in the final. Rublev is a step below these guys.
Holy sh**, in the first few seconds of that video you can really see the speed at which Daniil was running when he collided. Looks a lot worse than that front view in the earlier tweet.Medvedev's injury for those who missed it:
That’s bc Med can’t seem to play tennis in the same zip code as the courtHe had already complained about them this week.
Because he's in great form and had a nice confidence boost. But yeah, the chances of choking are still high.1. Meddy only has himself to blame here. It’s his job to be aware of what is around him and adapt to it.
2. I think Meddy is going out early at USO. Seems on edge and I think this will bother him.
3. I have no idea why anyone thinks Zod is capable of winning USO and beating Djokovic in the final. Because he beat KK in OG final? Because he choked USO last year?
Serving 70% first serves with his average being 131mph is a good skill to have. Not saying he can keep it up at the US Open, but maybe he's figured something out.1. Meddy only has himself to blame here. It’s his job to be aware of what is around him and adapt to it.

You are so sure that Medvedev is 100%. Isn't it more likely that the hand is bothering him, he's a little hurt and he LOST his concentration?
Absolutely. Well said. A lot of posters here just want to dismiss it. Medvedev was traveling fast and with momentum. There is NO WAY it was not an injury.the way his hand hit that camera it had to at least smart. I don’t see any way, traveling as fast as he was when he hit it didn’t get hurt. His backhand was off after it happened. Other than the ball toss, when does a rightie use the left hand? It also makes sense that his right forearm was hurting later on. He was putting more stress on the right arm because the left hand was hurt. I hope it’s not a serious injury. Time will tell.
Yes. It's pretty bad obviously.Holy sh**, in the first few seconds of that video you can really see the speed at which Daniil was running when he collided. Looks a lot worse than that front view in the earlier tweet.
Absolutely Rublev is just about hitting hard and no finesse or variety.Especially as they come tot he net and hit shallow angles.
Paire really showed how bad Rublev is at the net. He kept drawing him forward with soft shallow shots that are simply more difficult to rip in the same way he can from the baseline.Absolutely Rublev is just about hitting hard and no finesse or variety.
Question; Two things. Yall remember when David Goffin slipped on that tarp at Rolland Garros? He generally plays on the baseline, but for this point it was his only chance to get the ball back... It's not necessarily a problem with Med's style, sometimes you're just stuck having to defend and chase a ball from that far back. Think a few are joking about this, but it's worth nothing...
Two, even if the injury is not serious, this kinda **** ****s with your mind. There's definitely a level of doubt that creeps into your mind, and you could see him start to play differently after it happened. Was going for a bit too much and got a bit reckless with the ball at times. Although I also stepped out shortly after as i was going out for a hit. Fair to say it was probably weighing on his mind for the rest of the match.
Don't forget KyrgiosMedvedev is probably the biggest culprit on tour of letting an ultimately inconsequential point in a match turn into a complete meltdown.
Yup!--he's been playing there for a week now and should know where things are.1. Meddy only has himself to blame here. It’s his job to be aware of what is around him and adapt to it.
Where are you from?Big bigger America
Yeah because when you are running for a ball in a semi final of a Master’s you should always be focused on what’s around you rather than on the ball that’s coming at you. Are you freaking serious right now?Yup!--he's been playing there for a week now and should know where things are.
ABSOLUTELY SERIOUS!--It's called situational awareness. Medvedev further demonstrated his arrogant stupidity by kicking the camera showing NO regard to injuring the cameraman or damaging an expensive camera. Are you freaking serious right now?
Yep, if Med had anything broken it would be terrible. Safety of the players is more important than camera angles, that is why those cannons are not supposed to be there. It's a mess of an orginization. How can you place this 150kg bomber camera on court. Big bigger America
Med is the only player that plays this far back in the court. I've been watching all week and no one has had an issue.Yep, if Med had anything broken it would be terrible. Safety of the players is more important than camera angles, that is why those cannons are not supposed to be there.
Medvedev complained in the beginning of the tournament. It also changed the momentum of the game completely.

No he wouldn’t. Court is too fast. Moving closer to the baseline is how he’s succeeded on hard courts. No one, not even Thiem, plays as far back as Medvedev. If Nadal played at this tourney ,he would play this far back .
