Rafael Nadal leads the H2H 16-0
2-0 at the French (meetings in 2018 and way back in 2005).
Nadal was won 28 consecutive sets against the Frenchman, in a run of dominance that started in 2008.

Need I ask how we think this match is going to play out?

Nadal in three, but I've always enjoyed watching the Nadal CC FH to the Cocaine Kiss BH exchanges, regardless of the outcome.

False equivalences:
Thiem leads Djokovic 2-1 at RG and leads Federer on clay as well
Thiem > Djokovic/Federer on clay
Thiem declared as "prince of Clay" and biggest threat to Nadal
Thiem needed 5 sets to barely beat Hugo Gaston at RG
Gasquet destroys Gaston in 3 easy sets
Gasquet > Thiem
Gasquet the real threat? What a tough match this could be!

RAFA definitely should be playing with Desperation and ultimate effort this year, i believe this is the Last year that he can win this championships, this really is true ,, all you Rafa fans.

Richard probably loves breadsticks in Paris. Nadal 6-1, 6-3, 6-1.

Nadal to accept 50 million euros or whatever currency Spain uses to fix the match for Gasquet.

I picked Richard in 3 as a joke, glad there’s 5 other people with the same sense of humor as me.

H2H 16-0 ? LEL!
that's quite humiliating considering 10 years ago, Gasquet was seen as the new wonderchild, winning tournaments even younger than Nadal...
but Gasquet has not the genetic freaky disposition as Nadal

Gasquet always struggled against Nadal but now that he is far far far away from his best level, it could really be embarrassing to watch. If Nadal plays even just correctly it could be an absolute beatdown, something like 6-1 6-1 6-0. Something like Simon vs Tstisipas at the AO but possibly even worse

The match against Ramos Vinolas shows that Monfils can still play at a high level if he is well prepared and in the good mindset, but the downfall of Gilles, Richard and Jo-Wilfried is absolutely brutal.

All I can say about this match-up is: yawn. Worst match-up on tour along with Djokovic-Raonic.
That's absurd...
Rao gave Novak some tight matches, almost won few times, won sets... Nadal on the other hand could play against me instead of Gas, same thing, Rich won't win a set to save his life... 26 sets in a row, 11 matches in a row without losing set, lost set last time 13 years ago...
That's really shameful from Gasquet...

Always good to be reminded that all the fan bases handwring about their dude vs mismatched mugs.

Just go and look at h2h results... facts are facts.. Gasquet is no close to win set alone, while Rao won many sets and was close to win some matches...

I’ve gone for Gasquet in 3. Simple logic from an avid tennis fan like myself, I’ve observed the possibilities and in each scenario it’s a beat down for Rafa irrespective of how good he is playing. Gasquet is hungry and is taking this to the next level

Not gonna be easy for Rafa tomorrow given the night session, only one advantage being no spectators which means no French supporters for Richard.

French male players went 3-14 in first-round singles action at this year's French Open. One of those matches featured two Frenchmen, one of whom was Richard Gasquet, the other being 20-year-old Hugo Gaston, who won seven games from Gasquet.

Rafael Nadal leads the head-to-head against Richard Gasquet 16-0 and has won their last eleven encounters in straight sets.

Alors, où sont les mousquetaires d'antan ?
