pandemic first of course, but...

on the women's side we still have Serena trying to reach 24 & 25....Swiatek a new star who seems like one who will stick...Osaka and Barty should be back, and hopefully Andreescu too, Gauff as well...Halep will be there

with the men, Fed will be back, Novak and Rafa playing in great form...and Thiem, Zverev, Tsitsipas, and Shapo all continue to improve...Sinner looks excellent

agree or disagree?

There are new stars on the WTA tour every 3 weeks, so I’m not sure Swiatek is gonna stick considering most of them don’t. But hey, WTA is much more interesting than the ATP that’s for sure.

No mention of Medvedev?

And no mention of Djokovic’s nemesis Kyrgios?

But I agree that it will be a great and interesting year.

forgot Medvedev, forgot how bad he is on clay too :)

but he'll definitely be there elsewhere

Nick?....no idea at this point, up to him....he could already be on a decline

The women's side are in desperate need of stars or people will lose interest. Hopefully, Andreescu, Osaka, Barty and Swiatek can develop some great rivalries and bring interest back into their sport. Serena is on her last legs and the writing is on the wall. She can no longer carry that tour.

I hope by next year the pandemic is over or it is no longer declared a pandemic, I don’t care if they get rid of 75% of the crowd like FO, just please bring it back so that we can get some sense of normalcy.

Thinking about the women, with Gauff, Swiatek and Osaka likely to make headlines, I cannot help but despair for the men. We are looking forward to the tussle between the same three men we've been watching for the last 10+ years. It's tiresome. #nomorefalsedawns

People keep mentioning the 2 week quarantine in AO....Anyone know exactly what that looks like? Would each player have to arrive 2 weeks early and stay indoors/not see anyone?

I'd say the ATP has stars, but lacks rivalries.

Hopefully 2021 will be a great year to make up for 2020. We'll see how it pans out, as COVID-19 is still around.

In the men's game, we have Fedr returning, Novak and Rafa at the top, Thiem challenging and some of the younger players like Tsitsipas and Sinner are making it interesting again.

In the women's game, Swiatek, Osaka and Kenin, with Halep, Muguruza up there, possibly Andreescu if uninjured (and maybe Gauff) should be challenging for the big prizes and can Serena come back to win a Slam? And we have the Olympics as well.

Looking forward to it.

I hope so.

But by stars I also meant Djokodal and they don't really have much of a rivalry anymore.

Well they are dominating on their preferred surfaces. Hopefully it will continue. Nadal can have clay but I want Djokovic to maintain bis advantage on hard until he hangs up his racket.

Their matches since 2015 or so have lacked competitiveness. Nearly every match was a beatdown on one side or the other.

Their HC matches actually stopped being competitive in late 2013.

I seriously cannot wait for Aus open 2021, Nadal looking amazing, Djokovic's yard, Thiem is a grand slam champion, Federer returns to the big stage and other next gen all going for glory, kyrgios return would keep us hooked in 1st few days, all these point to terrific grand slam to start 2021 and not to forget wimbledon returns after 2 years.

And if Federer and Nadal meet again at Wimbledon especially, since its Federer's best shot at a slam....
Their 2019 Wimbledon meeting could have gone either way, Federer won the 1st Set in a tiebreaker, and Nadal won the 2nd Set 6-1....

Just curious, do you think their 2006 RG match could have gone the other way?

No majors jn 2021 for Djokofedal. Well, maybe Nadal can pull out 14th at FO if he stays healthy. Other than that it's all gonna be about the young guns! New era is starting in 2021!
