Hyeon Chung won the first version in 2017 and hasn’t made much of an impact since - the finalist he beat Rublev has established himself at the top of the tour. But, the last two winners Tsitsipas and Sinner have ascended up the rankings quickly while the finalist they beat Alex De Minaur seems to be on a journeyman career path. What does the future hold for Alcaraz and Korda? I hope they both do well.

True about Chung but he did make the semis of the AO the following year beating you know who along the way. His problem is more injuries than lack of ability. At least that is my understanding.

Clay szn 2022 may just have a new contender. Hell, why not AO ‘22 at this point?
He seems to have a decent head on his shoulders but this is a dangerous time. When so much is expected, there are some who simply can’t handle the weight of expectations and crumble under the pressure. I’m hoping that Carlos doesn’t turn into one of those. I don’t think he will though. Coming back from a bagel in the 4th against #3 says a lot about who he is as a competitor. He also has a great team behind him and it seems a solid work ethic. Not afraid to take on a shot and not allergic to the net. Love it.
