The pair's first ever meeting at RG and second meeting at a slam. H2H 2-0 in favor of Zverev. Last year they met in R16 at the USO and the Spaniard only managed 5 games. Prediction?

ABZ!!

For Medvedev to make final and have a clear mind before it, he needs an easy SF. Tsitsipas is already there so can't change that.

Let's go Fokina !

Since I have been predicting a Nadal-Zverev final I am going with Zverev to win this match. But I am rooting for Davidovich Fokina! (;

Fokina is going to be zonked after playing two long five setters and a four setter back to back to back. Unless Zverev cradles this will be three sets fro Zverev.

Zedraffe has looked pretty strong since dropping those first two sets vs Otte playing out of his gourd. Kei had no answer 4R; ADF will be a bit tougher but the results will be the same. Alexander over Alejandro in 3.

Fokina is a bit of a high strung in your face kind of player. He will scream Vamos and appeal loudly to the daytime crowd and gesticulate wildly after points. Whether that will rattle the Zverev or motivate him remains to be seen, the inner mechinations of his mind are an enigma.

I do not see Zverev in any way dropping this match on paper. Fokina has nothing that can really hurt him and he's going to be shattered after playing 3 straight marathon matches. But Zverev could definitely drop a set and be unconvincing, and that might give ADF some footing to build on. This will be by far the least watched of the 4 QFs.

Anyone think Fokina could win this? Zverev played very well against Kori but he also clowns around in certain matches, like in the first 2 sets of the first round.

As much as I want Dafok to be a player, he just isn’t ready. He’s not ready to even have a prayer for the greater RG mission yet. And thus beating a player who is possibly capable of fulfilling the RG mission is just a huge waste of everybody’s time.

Dafok is just a slightly taller Diego. Fun and somewhat clutch, but not clutch enough. And we’re about to see what happens when Diegos meet buzzsaws.

Remember folks: beating a meme doesn’t make you a better meme. And I don’t want just any slipshod brokedick Zoddery. The classics or nothing. It’s gotta be Zod ruthlessness one round (how he of all people beat the ultimate 5-set memer in straights with two breadsticks is beyond me) followed by bizarre meandering mediocrity to give off the ultimate clutch hero I’ve-got-the-beater-just-give-the-capris-and-15-RGs vibes. Then he is fed into the Nadal’s 90-minute buzzsaw game of roll the dice and find out how many games you’ll win.

Zod‘s private hell should be the worst one, like USO20. He should be put across the net from the toughest player in the tournament, know that he is fully capable of beating them, even winning the match for a set or two, then live the failure and remember it — and be remembered for it — for eternity. And thus, at this moment, it must remain Zod in 5.

If anyway Medvedev wins his qf, I would absolutely want an easy task in SF.

Fokina is a great player but does not have Zverev like high peak. Zverev can basically destroy any non Nadal guy left in the draw if it's his day.

So rooting for Fokina

Why non Nadal? Zverev is a nightmare matchup for Nadal, even on clay. Nadal's game doesn't hurt him at all. Nadal won their match in Rome by being very clutch on big points.

You speak with such authority and conviction for someone who is wrong almost every time.

Negative. Zverev has zero chance vs Nadal or Novak in RG.

Zedraffe to run away with it

But I hope this is a top day for The Funky Cold Fokina

Zverev looks absolutely massive in the tunnel compared to Fokina. If he wasn’t such a, well, bell-end then he could be a very intimidating presence.

Zverev should do a djokovic-ish trick today and go from 0-2 to 3-2 to cut as short as possible the rest time for a winner of Tsitsipas vs Medvedev match.

if this i broing beatdwon, i want my money back

I hope Fokina is switched on. He played so well against Ruud and Delbonis.

He actually said the win over Ruud was his best match ever. That was a real battle, and Fokina seems to like a good fight.

For those wondering, ADF has been on court 13 hours and 19 minutes through four matches, Zverev only 9 hours and 29 minutes.

Strong start by Fokina. His signature shots there; heavy backhand, then the dropper. Hope he can keep it up.

Slams need fairytales

Zverev going down 0-40 then broken in his first service game is hilarious. Don’t think he had a good point the entire game

Zverev should approach more in this match. Fokina looked flustered when Z came to net and played aggressively there.
