Of course and the likes of Tsonga/Berdych/Del Potro were able to make those breakthroughs at their age so I get the criticism. It’s just a bit unfair is all, because the likes of Tsits/Zverev/Medvedev are still clearly the 3rd-5th best players in the world right now.

Each of them has now equaled Hewitt, Safin, and Nalbandian’s best finishes at the FO, guys who are talked about as legends who dwarf the NextGen. It’s reductive to call guys who aren’t fully able to handle the pressure of beating a 18/20 time GS winner playing their most experienced and intelligent tennis a mug. These guys are all still developing players, but are written off as nothing athletes and people too easily.

They’re facing guys that are past their primes. The guys you mentioned where facing some of these guys in their prime. They deserve some criticism.

Kei's made so many poor choices. Why does he insist on drop shots when Zverev runs them up with ease, and is much, much better at the small game around the net ...

And they do get the deserved criticism in slam finals and big matches. My original post was referring to the unfair treatment they get around here. Since the start of this match there have been hundreds of posts in the Federer thread and only ~30 in here, it’s a cycle where everyone makes polemic hot takes and then refuses to watch the actual matches and disregards any non Big 3 players

Listen they’re getting deep into these GSs but it’s time for the breakthrough.

Zverev to beat Nadal if they meet. I said the same last year

Not sure if this would work. But Kei should try to go for Zed's forehand with his BH DTL.

That might have been the best set played in the tournament so far in terms of quality of hitting. Great set to win for Zverev, who has decided to actually use his FH today - looks genuinely threatening and has a proper shot at the Final

Not sure about this but Zverev's FH and Medvedev's look the same sometimes, especially their FHDTL.

He was using his FH a lot in the last match also.

It's a little sad to see how low Nishikori has sunk. Not much left of the once quite good competitor.

This is the Zverev that I think we all wanted to see in Slams. Problem is we wanted to see it about 4 years ago.

His form this clay season has been very good so far. If he can fix his DFs then he will be very dangerous.

He's already looking dangerous. If he fixes the second serve then he'll become frightening. And at that point he might be able to take a set off Nadal on Chatrier

4 years ago we thought his best surface was grass, then we thought it was hard and now it’s clay. He has potential to be a varied player.
