Nothing would make me happier than Sinner beating Nadal, but...

I can't see it happening. Maybe 5% chance.

I expect an UE galore from Sinner. Nadal will barely have to do anything... :cautious:
Sinner should just place the ball for once. He shouldn't go for big shots because they won't hurt Nadal. He has the tools but not the intelligence/experience to use them accordingly.

It's hard to know where Nadal's game is these days, he's been very inconsistent since the clay season started and not that convincing at the only tournament he won. It could be an easy victory for him or he could lose. Sinner certainly has the weapons that could trouble Rafa, so it could be an interesting match.

This. He can play like a enhanced version of Djokovic with controlled agression and sharp angles with more power, but I'am afraid he will play like a raw version of Soderling/Berdych.

Nadal should win but wouldn't be surprised if he loses the way he's been playing. Seems like his focus and Djokovic's focus is on the slams. They're only giving about 20% effort in these smaller tournaments.

6-1 6-1 Nadal. I don't even understand why the media tries to make this the match of the century.
Italian media, maybe. Sinner is a very big deal there, He’s their best prospect in possibly EVER so a matchup on home soil with the most successful Foro Italico champion EVER is a pretty big deal. The result may not live up to the hype but it’s pretty obvious the media would be delinquent if they didn’t bang the drum loudly.

The pandemic vacuum also justifies a little artificial pump up of the volume. There is a fan ban being enforced until later in the week so the journalists would be remiss if they didn’t give every home boy match a nudge, especially the head home boy.

Fair account, yes, maybe I can forgive media for trying to give some joy to the people in this environment.

The Sinner served far better against Humbert then in Madrid but Nadal does not face a hammer high altitude serve like Zverev in Madrid…

A bit of hype is fully justified, the king of clay against the great young hope which is a local to boot.

A very high quality R16 matchup is set with M-C champion and Madrid finalist Berrettini to face off tomorrow. This kind of matchup happens this early because a high seed is wasted on the clay clown Meddie. Clearly, Berrettini is not the ninth best player in the draw.

Let's see how much progress my bro Sinner has made over the past year ! :D
First observations: he looks more toned, his shots are heavier and his movement is a bit better.
