Seeing the pattern since 2016 we have got 1 match exactly between Rafa and Novak in clay season so going by that they should meet in either eg/rome but chances more for Rg as rome draw might be tough to see both reach the final

Felix ekes out a win in three over a game Krajinovic, who forced the third set by breaking FAA when he served FTW at 5-4,second set. The final score was 6-3 6-7(5) 6-4.

FAA moves on to play #8 Diego Schwartzman. They have played just once, indoor HC last autumn in Cologne. Diego won in three.

Ruud out from Rome ,rafa now may get shapavalov which I think is toast on this surface. Sinner is tough one before another potential meeting with Zverev

I just love how Fila makes their players wear pyjamas. I wonder wether Opelka looked at himself in a mirror? He looks ridiculous in that outfit.

And did Felix grunted like this before, or is it one of Toni Nadal's improvements?

Think it's gonna be a random winner. Or Rublev.

If it’s Monday there’s a LL on the schedule and his name is Nishioka. First it was Madrid, “earned” despite not finishing the qualie match he lost. He did win in 1R before Ruud destroyed him. Now he got in at Rome despite losing 3&1 to Majchrzak on Sunday. He just lost 2&0 to Fucsovics. I gotta hope all this losing doesn’t scar the young man.

Anyone know the name of the umpire for the sinner and humbert match? She was also the umpire for the goffin and Caruso match yesterday.

i think RAFA should skip the italian open. if he gets injured, his 21st slam is in big jeopeardy
This French Open isn't necessary anyway, he's won 2 of the last 3 US Opens prior to covid, and always a chance at Wimbledon (lost 10-8 to Djokovic in 2018, and breadsticked Federer 2019).
He's got many more slams to win, as he's obviously playing to 2024 (Olympics hosted by Roland Garros) and beyond.

Sinner vs Nadal is going to be a blockbuster apparently. Nadal has had some rest and is up for Rome. He will annihilate Sinner 2 and 1.

It will be a blockbuster only in the ATP marketing department.

I feel bad for anyone who doesn't know better who falls for it. Can they sue using the trades description act?

Interesting draw for the Moose, who now gets Opelka. Word on the street is he'll be returning directly from the third row.
Is there a third row on Court #1? That’s a surprising demotion from a featured Center Court to the fourth most choice assignment. Berry on Center Court, Sonego on Grandstand, ZERO Italians on Pietrangeli and Zo gets shunted to #1?

Its a digrace, its an scandal, its a outrage!

Djokovic vs. Fritz...again! Hoping for a repeat of last meeting and Djokovic does his fake injury again! Taylor will be super psyched out if that happens. I think he may “retire” the match if this time around! o_O

Craig O’Shannessy (BrainGameTennis) tweeted today there has been extra practice time devoted by Camp Nadal on the Rafa forehand...problems with the ball sailing or landing too short. He has all day Tuesday for more practice and then 2R vs The Sinner in Wednesday’s featured match.

Maybe they wanna force him to stand closer by sticking him on a smaller court. Or perhaps they intend to make n.1 super muddy to slow down the Opelka serve. Either way, until any spectators are allowed in (Thursday, I guess?), court designations are really pretty meaningless.

It was Becker, I believe, who never won a single title on clay, not even 250/international/grand prix level.

He came closest in that epic MC final vs Muster, only to accuse his rival of doping ever since.

He had the match point on his serve at tie-break, went for the biggest second serve and double faulted to let Muster back in the game and lost. What an opportunity missed. Just like Fed losing to Wawa.

Sampras is GOAT for his era but is far away from the GOAT in pro tennis history! I do not think he has ever won a 1,000 ATP clay title and certainly no clay FOs!

It was really difficult to be good on fast/really fast and very slow courts at the same time. Now all courts play the same more or less so if you're good on one surface you're automatically good on all. In the 90s it wasn't like that. So I'd say Sampras is still the goat. He was the best in the best era.
