The other ATP 250 this week. Top players include: Jannik Sinner (likely his first time as #1 seed), Gael Monfils, Alex de Minaur, Alexander Bublik, and Filip Krajinovic. Wild cards include: Gianluca Mager, Dimitar Kuzmanov, Adrian Andreev, and Alexander Lazarov.

Demon has been dealing with corona since about grass season or so. Been a pretty poor year for him. Hoping he can recover his form from 2019.

Jannik and La Monf in the final? (y)

I have seen very little of De Minaur this year, anyone know how he looks?
as James mentioned above he has been struggling a lot. I didn't realize it was as bad as it was, but he's like 1-7 since winning Eastbourne. Dunno how much of that is a result of Covid, but it's been a disappointing year for him.

You're probably right. Maybe Bublik can spoil the party on the top half, but Sinner has beaten him this year I think. Bublik had a nice exchange with him at net after that one.

That Andreev kid could surprise and make the quarters. He's had flashes of brilliance here and there (beat Lloyd Harris at the beginning of the season).

You're right, that was a fun match....Bublik was on fire, but Sinner stayed steady throughout -- cool as a cucumber, that kid.

Edit: I think that's what hurt against Zverev. He was playing with more emotion than usual.

Interesting...I don't know anything about him, but Miomir hasn't had a good year, so it would be a great opportunity for a young and hungry player. And speaking of the little Demon...

First time for every phrase, “Jannik Sinner enters as the the #1 seed AND defending champion.”

Sinner is 2-0 h2h vs Bublik, winning in three in Dubai R32 and your reference match, QF at Miami, in straight but tight sets.

Calling this one for Krajinovic. I think he is ready. Missed an ATP 500 title in Hamburg earlier this year and the unfamiliar court/ball conditions in Astana ruined his go in the first match against Duckworth (who served like a champ all match). So, now is the time.

I think James Duckworth is poised to win. He was playing like a champion all the way into the final this past week and if he can continue that level of play I think he can win.

Mager has no problems with Mannarino and advances to 2R.

Expected results for Kec. The local WC was better than most of those throne a bone for being big fish in small pond.

Giron was slow to reach top gear, basically carrying Munar to the TB, but then the next 8 of 9 games were earned with aggressive play. Then it was a matter of holding each time from 2-0 third set. Closing the match at 5-4 was an adventure though.

2R is the softest of the seeded byes, slumping AdM.

The tournament lost one of the seeded byes today when Bublik made his decision to withdraw. LL Karim Majchrzak is twice lucky, into 2R without one MD point.

Did Ivashka win his match? I had to go out after the first set.

This de Minaur-Giron match has been a hard fought battle between the two. Giron winning the first set tiebreak (7-5) and they are tied at 5-5 in the second set. I like both of these players immensely but I have been feeling badly for de Minaur lately, he's been losing early at so many tournaments, I am finding myself rooting for him but I also really like Giron!

de Minaur played a terrible tiebreak in the second set. Kudos to Giron for playing two great tiebreaks and winning the match 7-6, 7-6! He's fun to watch!

Yep, the de Minaur struggles continue. Good on Giron for winning this, but Demon has been a shell of himself the last 3 months.

I had to go out at the end of the first set, glad to see that Duckworth won the match! I have been enjoying his level of play the past two weeks!

Oh, awesome, the Sinner-Gerasimov match is now on TC. Looks like Sinner had quite a strong 6-2 first set.

The first set was Sinnerlicious; the second set was a scary rolllercoaster ride. 6-2 7-6(3). Gerasimov served for the second set but Sinner put together a hot patch to break, hold and get two MPs at 5-6 but failed to convert. Good solid TB.

Juan Manuel Cerundolo just moved into the QFs of the Lima Challenger. With that win, he's moved to #101 live ranked. One more win, he'll become just the third teenager in the top 100 (assuming he doesn't get passed by someone else). If he makes the final, he ought to lock his top 100 spot in, for sure.
Very happy for JMC but he’s not playing in Sofia this weekend.

Superior tennis from Giron, taking out Millman 4&2. Into a SF, perhaps his best ever result. Will verify and report back.

EDIT: Yes, Giron has exited at QF stage several times but this is is first ATP level SF.

Monfils looks like Federer our there on serve. Every time I glance away from my other screen to focus on work he's already done holding serve.

Up 5-2 in this set and it hasn't even been 30 minutes. Would have been a no sweat bet if I had taken it

Monfils through 6-2 6-2 in 49 minutes. Probably his fastest match ever. Not the exactly a great opponent today though.

Sinner takes the tiebreaker 7-4. He really served like dogshit this set, hopefully he can improve on it.

I have never ever heard of Majchrzak? Looks like Krajinovic defeated him today. Missed that match.

Disappointed for Duckworth - was hoping he would win. Really like him alot.

For me my problem with Sinner is that despite his excellence at tennis he has zero charisma.
