Anyone else think there's something very Federer/Nadal about this match up?; Emma's gliding all court grace and attacking style versus Fernandez's impenetrable mental fortress where the ball just somehow keeps coming back.

I like them both! I like to have a qualifier win it all! From qualifying to winning the U.S. Open tennis singles title at 18 years old, never played as an entry into the U.S. Open GS! That is the reason I am I am a bigger fan of Emma Raducanu to win it all! Some fair tales and Hollywood scripts can actually be true? Let's hope so for tennis sake! Either one that wins it is a miracle in pro tennis history, win or loss. Gives hope to the millions of young tennis players around the world that a person with the right mindset can achieve the near impossible at the beginning of their career if you have the right attitude! :love::eek::)(y)

I am sometimes wrong in my predictions, and that is particularly true with the women's matches, but I don't think this is going to be a close match. I think Raducanu is going to win in two sets fairly easily. I really don't mind if this prediction proves to be wrong, I like them both, but it is my gut feeling about how this match is going to play out.

For future reference, Raducanu is a whopping 2 months younger than Fernandez; she's turning 19 in November.

I picked Raducanu in 2 because I sorta expect her to hit through Fernandez in the same way Sabalenka did early on, except Radu's level hasn't dropped in two weeks and I think she can keep it going long enough to win before Fernandez has much of a chance to adjust.

Agree that Radu's fairytale is the biggest fairytale of them all and for that reason, I lean slightly towards her. But honestly, I'm not sure who I'm cheering for until the match is on.

Also, how is this match on a mere 4 pages? No interest in the WTA on this entire forum, even when the WTA have made this US Open as exciting as it has been?

Favoring Emma because Leylah's last four matches have all gone 3 sets in addition to having a tiebreak every time

I do think this will be the first time Emma will have to play 3 sets though and that Leylah won't just roll over like Raducanu's other opponents

Its no secret that Raducanu has a stellar backhand that has carried her so far. That can be an advantage against Leylah who is a lefty. But Emma never faced a Top 10 or 5 opponent. Leylah beat 3 Top 5 and 1 former No1 multiple GS winner. That shows how tough she is mentally. Only obstacle for her will be fatigue if the match goes to a decider.

It looks like Leylah is a fan of Nadal but she is forgiven.

I guess Bibiane Schoofs, Miriam Bolkvadze, Mayar Sharif don't feel as badly about losing to Raducanu in qualifying!

It is 6 weeks not 2 weeks! She went through qualifying tournament to get into main draw!

She played her first qualifying match on August 25th. That's just a little over two weeks.

Tough to call. To me it's either Emma in 2 or Leylah in 3. The X factor being whether or not Emma can keep her nerves and not collapse under pressure like at Wimby. She should feel less pressure not being at home but then again, this is a grand slam final not a 4th round match.

Gotta wonder if this is going to be a high quality or low quality affair. There's no doubt this match is incredibly interesting, must-see, but I wonder if the kids are going to be mental headcases (a la men's 2020 USO final). I hope the level lives up to the occasion.
