She is still complaining about the bleeding MTO? I am sorry but that's just bitter, even kids know the bleeding wounds/cuts need to be taken care of ASAP to prevent nasty infections especially in the hot summer.

I can kind of see...not that I agree with that...someone like Sabalenka serving that role: huge, freakin' bellows after every shot, not overly gracious, but even then.

Let's put it this way. I'll be rooting for LAF to get through the rounds because with a game like that DAMN she is very watchable, very impressive. But then when it comes to the big showdowns at the end of tournaments she'll be my heel. :p

Just some amazing shotmaking in this match.

Look - she deserved to win etc. And she's got an amazing game.
But she should have been smart enough to minimize the MTO for the small graze.

I can guarantee you if we have a great champion like Rafa, Novak, Fed etc - they would have just gotten a bandage quickly or just wiped it off the towel.
Halting the game at breakpoint for 5 mins clearly wasn't the best thing to do.
You're reaching.

Yeah, all this hate is ridiculous. We were just blessed with a great match and two great stories.

I'm happy to see Fernandez on the women's side coming up -- she reminds me of Halep. I'm very happy about Raducanu coming up. She reminds me of a young Clijsters or Li Na or Schiavone. A mix of power groundstrokes, power serving, and excellent movement.

Unbelievable! So tense! This is super, super sweet as a Brit. Also, incredible to see someone who cites Li Na as an idol win a major so soon after her retirement.
Did she? I only saw the last few points and was telling my wife Emma reminds me of Li Na, who I believe would have won more GS in this generation.

LAF is loved. Great interview and great future.

We need a thread about the future of the women's game because right now I have NO IDEA how this is gonna shake out. These are very talented rising stars, There's Osaka, Barty, and no dominant force and a slew of rising potential stars. I think for the moment women's tennis is finally overtaking men's tennis for me in terms of interest for the first time in I guess over 15 years... or at least on par.

Yeah, Emma cited Li vs Schiavone RG final from 2011.
She was also coached for a while by Nigel Sears. Her serve looks a little like Ivanovic's who he coached, albeit her ball toss isn't so wild.
Emma reminds me of Li Na's game crossed with Halep's margin and poise. A good fit given her lineage.

You people are treating the emotional responses of children like they are adults. I have a 16yo and an 18yo. They blow up and get upset about inconsequential stuff.
You guys act like you wouldn't complain more than Fern if you were losing in a 3.5 USTA sectionals
Exactly. These people were already rooting against her. It was a minor complaint and that was that.

Please… Fernandez is nothing like Halep. Just stop
