High flying Botic Van de...van de...the Dutchman versus Daniil "Mad Lad" Medvedev for the opportunity to reach the SFs of the US Open. Not sure if this one will disappoint or provide some entertainment. Who do you got in this one??
 
Mad Lad will tear apart BVDZ and exposed himself as the biggest guy left in the draw. :D

(Ala Brad Gilbert, I was trying to come up with a clever nickname for Botic during the match today. BG was calling him "VanZandt" but that didn't stick for me. Maybe Bo-Van? But then I thought of beeveedees, aka underwear... so I'm going with BVDZ. With that last name, that dude definitely needs a nickname.)

Cannot see anything other than a solid Medvedev win here, he looked very good in his last match and I expect him to turn the screws now. He knows he should be in that final.
 
Medvedev is going to go all the way this time. On current form, he is the favourite against anybody, both his half and the other half. The guy is a genius, more than most people realize.
 
I was really impressed with Botic yesterday but I am going with Medvedev in 3 straight sets. His level is simply much higher than Schwartzman's.

If he wins he’ll be the second qualifier in a SF…this year!

He won’t though. BoZan (sounds like boson, the glue of the subatomic world) has played just two less sets than the minimum any qualifier could play while Meddle has played the absolute minimum a main draw player can play. It’s always bad when the number is higher in this category: 27 vs 12 is a UUUGGGEEE gap.

BoZan running on E, loses in threE.

I like v.d. Zand and hope he plays as relaxed and beautiful tennis as he has done so far.

If he takes a set, it will be a pleasant surprise.
 
We’ve seen some strange things in tennis so I’m keeping a very open mind here.
 
I was impressed by Botic's level of play in his match with Schwartzman. Still, I think Medvedev is playing at his highest level right now and unless he runs into a camera he ought to win in straight sets.
 
It will be interesting to see if Botic can do anything at all in this match. Expecting Medvedev to win it easily but this is a tournament full of surprises!
 
Starting in a few minutes! My biggest question: will Medvedev be able to win in 3 straight sets? He is the only player who has won all 12 sets so far - can he make it 15 sets?

Zverev has only dropped one set.
 
I don't get the feeling that there's enough in his game to bother Medvedev all that much but we will see.

I think he's gotta be feeling the effects of all his matches too.

Very perceptive. Same thing happened in AO 2021 Final and UsOpen 2020 SF vs Thiem.
I just hope he wins at least a set. I mean losing in 4 is more honorable.
