2021 vcore 98 VS new vcore pro 97... thoughts?

i really enjoy the new vcore 98 but small complaint would be that touch shots are difficult.

I main the 2021 VCORE 98 at just over 12 ozs and have the same criticism that touch volleys suck but everything else is great.

Serves, groundstrokes, and returns are awesome. Volleys are alright good pop but can overhit with bad technique and the kinda muted feels makes it harder to feel the slice on the ball.

I can tell from the specs that the VCORE Pro 97 provides a softer feel with less power and more control. Basically it's gonna be good at what the 98 is bad at and worse than what the 98 is good at.

Depends on your game and opponents. I do mostly singles against 4.0-4.5 ish players and I need the put away power for serves, returns, and groundstrokes.

If you're a doubles player I'm sure the touch from the pro 97 is nice to have. Honestly I'd probably do fine with either racket and you can't go wrong with either one. I'm eyeing the pro 97 but already invested too much in the 98 so won't be switching.

I prefer my '21 vcore 95s over both the '21 VC98 and '21 VCP97 (310). The one I demoed seemed to have very low SW (lower than all my VC95s). Regarding the VC98: I couldn't notice a huge difference from the previous model, so to me the VC95 is better in all aspect except the size of the sweet zone (but offers more control and feel).

The new VCP97 could be the frame to test for those wanting more control and less power out of a Pure Strike, Rad MP or VC98 type of frame.

I'm currently using the new Rad MP, and that frame offers quite a bit of free pop compared to the VC98 f.inst.

if i like the new vcp... i am considering carrying two of each (vc98 + vcp).
i played mostly singles, but now doubles is my main (since indoors is expensive)

I was using the 2018 VCORE 95 before the 2021 98 (ezone tour also but don't recommend ezone tour for ohbh as that balance made the swing weight unbearable and couldn't get the whip, I also developed elbow issues) but unfortunately it was in the wrong grip size 4 1/2 and I'm a 4 1/4 in Yonex 4 3/8 in wilsons.

The 95 was amazing and offered more precision and I hit my best ohbhs and slices with the racket. I ended up blind picking the 2021 98s when I switched because I got a great deal and wanted a bit more forgiveness and was willing to give up a bit of that precision.

Stock for stock the 95 is better than the 98 because of its weight. But if you plan on customizing there's nothing wrong with the 98 platform and I found myself serving better (more power/pop) because of the 16x19 stringbed. The 16x20 in the 95 is more dense and provides better control.

If you're between the VCORE Pro or 98 then definitely check out the 95. I'd stay away from the pro line it just seems too soft and doesn't appear to be better than the 95 or leaded up 98.

Boils down to control/precision for VCORE 95 or leaded up 98 for more pop. I'm a pretty big hitter and don't need help generating power but the 98 works well where it matters for me (serves and groundstrokes). 95 volleys better but can't go wrong with 95/customized 98.

So vcore 98 2021 isnt a powerful racket? Many claim that it is hard to control due to high power , and i find it akward since it is supposed to be a spin machine.

I string mine with Kirschbaum super smash orange 16l and ISOSPEED Energetic Plus 16 at 57 (poly/multi) and it's great once you add enough weight to make it stable. The racket sucks stock and I was having trouble keeping the ball in play against bigger hitters so maybe that's why some people think it's too powerful or unruly.

My pairs weigh in at 347 grams strung with overgrip around the 6 pt HL mark. I am able to hit my serves consistently stronger and groundstrokes/returns are noticablely better with the added weight (feels like I get an extra inch of depth and racket doesn't flutter around on hard returns).

I compared it to my Babolat 2016 Pure Aero VS tour (strung 54 full poly volkl cyclone, 350 grams strung with overgrip) and that has too much power so I prefer the Yonex.

My only gripe is volleys on Yonex are a bit harder to control because of the muted feeling that makes it harder to feel the slice. My friend has the nadal racket pure aero current gen and it's similar to that. I'd say the nadal racket is also inherently more powerful than the Yonex.

If you're a flat hitter the ezone 98 might be a better option or stick with the prostaff/blade line. The 2018 VCORE 95 is also great if you want more control, less pop, and a denser string bed (16x20). I hit my best ohbhs and slices with the 95 but found more pop with the 98 on serves and forgiveness on the return and groundstrokes.

The Yonex 98 plays similar to the Pure Aero but with more control and designed for players who can hit with topspin to fully utilize the racket. It's similar to the blade 98 which I'd use if I wanted a Wilson.

I hit extreme eastern forehand with a ohbh and like to slice but like to rip topspin ohbh on medium/low balls.

Am racket nerd and have prostaff 85, mained the 2014 90, mained aero storm/pure drive roddick, mained microgel prestige pro, mained donnay pro one intl 95 (buttery smooth), 200g, and others that I don't remember.

Also have a LM prestige mid, hit with the RF97 (groundstrokes were fine serving was too heavy), pure aero (only 100 sq inch racket I'd switch to but prefer smaller head sizes), blade 98 is nice and positive would play great with added weight.

Used to be a Dunlop fanboy but their rackets are more traditional players rackets and I like tweeners now. Only rackets haven't really tried are like volkls, tecnifibre, and princes.

I’d love a comparison of the emerald Green VCP 97, and the new purple one.,..just the straight 16x19 versions

It's higher but not as uncontrollable as the 98 which felt really launchy to me. I'd say in between the 98 and 95.
Currently using the Vcore 98(305), and despite a variety of string set ups, and tensions..I cannot volley, at all.
It has essentially zero touch at net

Hit with the new VCP 97 310 last night. Strung with 3.0 Confidential 16L @ 54lbs. The racket is super soft (60 RA I think), I had to play without a dampener. I especially liked it for one handed backhand. Definite upgrade in the volley department, felt quite effortless. Serves were okay, nothing special to report. I'm indifferent about the feel. Usually, rackets with low RA (i.e. Wilson blade v7) I hate them because they have no feel. This racket has some feel, however, I'm used to rackets that feel like a board. Misshits weren't terrible, I'm sure using a dampener would help, but I'll trade the dampener for more feel.
