So vcore 98 2021 isnt a powerful racket? Many claim that it is hard to control due to high power , and i find it akward since it is supposed to be a spin machine.
I string mine with Kirschbaum super smash orange 16l and ISOSPEED Energetic Plus 16 at 57 (poly/multi) and it's great once you add enough weight to make it stable. The racket sucks stock and I was having trouble keeping the ball in play against bigger hitters so maybe that's why some people think it's too powerful or unruly.
My pairs weigh in at 347 grams strung with overgrip around the 6 pt HL mark. I am able to hit my serves consistently stronger and groundstrokes/returns are noticablely better with the added weight (feels like I get an extra inch of depth and racket doesn't flutter around on hard returns).
I compared it to my Babolat 2016 Pure Aero VS tour (strung 54 full poly volkl cyclone, 350 grams strung with overgrip) and that has too much power so I prefer the Yonex.
My only gripe is volleys on Yonex are a bit harder to control because of the muted feeling that makes it harder to feel the slice. My friend has the nadal racket pure aero current gen and it's similar to that. I'd say the nadal racket is also inherently more powerful than the Yonex.
If you're a flat hitter the ezone 98 might be a better option or stick with the prostaff/blade line. The 2018 VCORE 95 is also great if you want more control, less pop, and a denser string bed (16x20). I hit my best ohbhs and slices with the 95 but found more pop with the 98 on serves and forgiveness on the return and groundstrokes.
The Yonex 98 plays similar to the Pure Aero but with more control and designed for players who can hit with topspin to fully utilize the racket. It's similar to the blade 98 which I'd use if I wanted a Wilson.
I hit extreme eastern forehand with a ohbh and like to slice but like to rip topspin ohbh on medium/low balls.
Am racket nerd and have prostaff 85, mained the 2014 90, mained aero storm/pure drive roddick, mained microgel prestige pro, mained donnay pro one intl 95 (buttery smooth), 200g, and others that I don't remember.
Also have a LM prestige mid, hit with the RF97 (groundstrokes were fine serving was too heavy), pure aero (only 100 sq inch racket I'd switch to but prefer smaller head sizes), blade 98 is nice and positive would play great with added weight.
Used to be a Dunlop fanboy but their rackets are more traditional players rackets and I like tweeners now. Only rackets haven't really tried are like volkls, tecnifibre, and princes.
