I think people are giving Norrie too much respect yes he’s had a decent year but what has he realistically got in his game that will take 3 sets off Federer?
He is a solid player with no real weapons, he may get a set of Federer is a bit off, but expecting Federer to be off and missing for 3 sets seemed a bit far fetched

I don't think he needs any real weapons in order to beat Fed if he plays like R1. Norrie is higher ranked than Mannarino, has had better results this year, and has a winning h2h against Mannarino. So he's a better player than Adrian, who I also would say has no weapons that would hurt Fed in normal circumstances. Yet Roger almost lost to him.

People are worried because we don't know for sure which Fed will turn up. And likely that will remain the case throughout the rest of his career ...

It's also hard to know how well Roger was really playing in the last two sets yesterday, because Roger matches up so well against Richard. Still, if he brings that game I think he'll have too much for Cam.

I do take your point and I agree if Federer plays as poorly as in round 1 then Norrie has a shot but how much of that score line was about Manarino and how much was Federer being poor? The fact that Federer has since got through a round fairly comfortably to me suggests he will be playing better than round 1 and I just think he’s going to have too much game for Norrie. But it’s a great run for Norrie his best at Wimbledon so he should be happy

If Fed plays like he did yesterday, I don’t see him having much trouble

He played Norrie at the Hopman cup and matched up against him well

Mannarino takes the ball much earlier, and that takes time away from Fed, whose lateral movement is currently quite dubious.

First paragraph is spot on but good tennis competitively.

As to second paragraph, Norrie’21 >>>> Norrie’19. He was less than two years removed from playing NCAA tennis and was GB’s singles player by default with Murray and Edmund hip checked and Evans suspended.

The Norrie run to and challenge for the Queen’s Club title last month was quality stuff. Big Berry had to play Berry Berry good to beat him. 1R fedr loses to him. 2R fedr wins, IMO in 4 good sets.

I admire Norrie for how much he's improved after the last couple years, I remember watching him for a little while back in 2018 and then finally thinking he'd hover around 50-100 mark after watching his whole campaign of the Hopman Cup back in 2019. He's a really dogged competitor who makes the most of what he's got. He's almost like another Mannarino, neither can do too much with the forehand, both have underrated speed and backhand consistency, plays incredible angles... Norrie is just a little more headstrong at the moment.

I thought Fed would have cleaned up Adrian as per usual, but that didn't exactly work out that well, so I'll refrain from predicting this one :-D (Fed in three)

I hope you're right!

All set and ready to rock ‘n roll

It’s how to know what to expect here. Depends what version of Fed shows up. I feel it will be close. I give Fed the edge but don’t see a straight forward affair here.

Federer will wipe the floor with him.

Norrie got 0BPs on Berrettini’s serve in 16 service games. I don’t think he has it in him to truly take down Roger.
