Garbine out in three. One more disappointing GS from her but at least she lost to a very talented player.

Some years ago there was poll about how many Grand Slam victories for Garbine, I voted something like 5. I still believe she can achieve that, she will eventually get her "****" together and she is still one of those few players that can beat anybody on any surface.

Did I see hallucinations or was Jabeur vomiting there earlier? o_O

I can’t even say Muguruza choked here, saved 25 BPs throughout the match. Jabeur just too good today, so much variety and mental strength

I saw the the vomiting while personally eating my lunch. Didn’t stop me eating. I feel bad for the person who has to clean that up. Not sure if she’s sick or was nervous. It was on match point.

Is experience overrated in women's tennis? So many slam winners being dumped out by players in new territory. What happened to newcomer nerves?

Brava Liudmila!

Nice to know there IS one Italian woman that can play at a truly high level. She'll achieve much. Too bad she'll be doing it with a Russian flag next to her name thanks to our idiot bureaucrats and paper-pushers, but that doesn't change who she is.
Tell me more about this!?

About Liuda? I mean, she's an Italian girl - I thought that was common knowledge. Moved to the country as a toddler, raised here, went to school here, learned how to play here, lives here, her coach & staff are Italian, her native tongue is Italian, she speaks Italian on court, on Instagram and in her everyday life. And as you may have noticed in her post-match speech today... she even speaks English with an Italian accent! In fact, she competed for Italy all throughout her junior career but upon turning 18, she was inexplicably denied naturalization due to some silly laws and, especially, the ill will of some spiteful bureaucrats and bitter Italian Tennis Federation officials - the same guys who went out of their way to get passports for guys like Ciurletti or Agamenone, two boys from the pampas who couldn't tell Rome from Romania.

The Swiatek vs. Jabeur/Rybakina vs. Sabalenka quarter is the toughest by far. Whoever comes out of there will probably meet Barty in the final, although Ostapenko might play spoiler in the top half of the draw.

No, I wasn't aware! Thanks for the info - I'll keep an eye on this. Reckon she would play for Italy in the future if that changes?

Now then she started to earn real money and probably will be a celebrity, they definitely will grant her the citizenship, but she'll move to Monte Carlo or Switzerland instead

Coco Gauff plays tomorrow on Centre Court against some no-name, while a Roland Garros and Eastbourne champion Ostapenko is banished to a court Nr 15. This is scandalous, really.

Nope, I think that ship has sailed. I mean, yes, of course NOW the federation would go out of its way to work its magic. But I think she's made it clear that she's no longer interested. And I can't blame her. She tried so hard and so long to get the FIT to produce the necessary paperwork, and they treated her like a worthless piece of crap who'd never make it past ITF level. At this point, if I were her, I'd say thanks but no thanks. Those who know her and know who she is will root for her anyways, regardless of what flag is displayed next to her name.

Keys through. Good. I'd like her to go all the way.

haha! Local joints’ pork tacos. To die for.

I don’t get too queasy about those sort of things but I was wondering if those in the royal box could smell it.
sigh of relief, it wasn't pollo loco
I hope someone puts that puking on YouTube, or at least gif here, I sure would like to test my intestine

Because you put two nobodies, one of which is lucky to be a client of Federer's PR company to the Centre Court while Grand Slam champions and finalists play somewhere on the outskirts.
Must be american conspiracy
When one of these nobodies played Iga in Rome, a commentator (Olga Savchuk) was referring to her as if she was winning
But her opponent is Kaja, and she is worth the centre court!

American conspiracy? Nope, just business as usual. The other client of Fed's PR agency plays right after Coco.

Krejcikova v Sevastova, or Kerber as a former champ should be on Centre Court. Ostapenko v Tomljanovic is not a Centre Court match that's for sure, but nor is Gauff v Juvan. Not saying neither will be a good match, but it's likely due to viewership and people predicting she will be a slam champ before it happens (I do think she will be).

Ostapenko was a 1/4 and a semi-finalist in Wimby. She maybe not deserves to be on the Centre court, but she doesn't deserve to be on court 15 either. Same with Pavs who plays like on court 16. To put Gauff on Centre court is a bad idea, because it spoils her big way. It's also a slap in the face of others. She did nothing in her career to be on this court yet.

Only two left of the USTA hype machine that never won a GS yet. Stephen already done it! Keys and Vandeweghe are left!
Vandeweghe is still playing? I thought she already retired and spends her time playing golf in her white supremacist neighbourhood.

Yep, in one quarter we got Sabalenka, Rybakina, Swiatek and Jabeur. In others we got Samsonova, Pliskova, Keys and Golubic. Such is tennis.

If Kerber was to go on and lose this match then there would be 0 former Wimbledon champs left in the draw.

Yet again guaranteed a new Wimbledon champion.

It would also leave just 4 players in the draw as former slam champs: Barty, Krejcikova, Ostapenko and Swiatek. Funnily enough all 4 are former RG champs and have won just the one slam. 2017 for Ostapenko, 2019 for Barty, 2020 for Swiatek and 2021 for Krejcikova.

Wouldn't really be considered a big upset I guess, but I also went Linette over Badosa today. She just rallied off 3 games (maybe more) to win the first set.

She's got a really nice game for grass. Like the serve and willingness to come to net.

The last four games of the 1st set got away from Badosa. She was ahead 5-3 then lost the set to Linette. After a rain break too. Low 1st serves in %, needs to get it back.

Anybody else actually starting to like Alexandria Stevenson's commentary now?

she seems more confident in her stats and analysis and cracks actually funny jokes/quips every now and then.

Linette is just slamming every shot as she can, attempting to put pressure on Badosa who is also a big hitter.

edit: Badosa got her 1st serve back and her shot form now. Leading 3-0, 2nd set. But that second part of the first set was ugly for her.
