Danielle reeled off 5 straight from 1-3 in the first, now she’s about to serve for the match after being down 1-4 in the second.

This whole business with new rankings does't make sense.
It's totally unfair to lower ranked players who can protect virtually nothing
yet, enables others to keep their points, and take a break at the same time.
I do admire Kenin though for trying, at least she didn't seat and do nothing.

I was glad to see DC get redemption on Ash, but saying Barty isn't a good number #1 is a bit harsh. She hasn't been playing, if you take a look at her left thigh she has it taped. I don't think Ash is a 100%, but she'll get her groove back soon enough. Anyway thanks as always to @spystud for creating the thread and being a dedicated WTA fan. Bencic play some of the best tennis I've seen her play in LONG time!

Iga played probably the best match of 2021. And one needs to give a credit to Inglis, she wasn't just standing, they had some incredible rallies.
Iga played at her FO level for the first time since.
Dying to see her playing DC tomorrow.

No, it isn't! Danielle exposed every single weakness of hers.

One of the things that draws me to the WTA is that there always a chance for anyone to win the match. It’s not a predetermined outcome like ATP matches tend to be. The score like doesn’t reflect it, but even the qualifier Inglis gave Iga a decent match. I’ll be tuning in the see quarter final match.

I totally agree, and I did say that before that Inglis was playing well. Had she played DC the outcome could have been different. BTW, I did watch her last 2 matches.
The thing about chances though imo comes from the fact that there is too much inconsistency on WTA, and these who are consistent are those who win slams and big tournaments.

So Barty loses two matches, one involving a highly questionable time out and the other to Collins, who can beat almost anyone on her day, and suddenly she's trash? Rubbish.

It's not about her loosing a match or two, it's about her keeping #1 while not playing, or playing subpar tennis.

If coco loses to awful Shelby Rogers she should retire at a young age. Imagine losing to an out of shape fatty

Shelby Rodgers has worked hard to change her body. She looks slimmer, moves better and hits harder. She's no easy out for anybody!

It appears coco may have been a quick flash in the pan who had a lucky few runs at some slams. Hope that’s not the case but she is mentally weak at the moment and lacking any real conviction in her game

She has turned things around in a match she has NO BUSINESS losing. Talent wise, she is world’s better than Shelby Rogers.

Question: If on a serve the ball hits the net and then hits the receiving player’s body or racquet, what is the ruling?

I wish someone told Gauff that it IS possible to win matches in straight sets. Anyway, good to see her reach the semis.
