this level is insane. very high level by both; great defending and attacking by both. great match! badosa takes the first set 7-6.

Badosa seemed to be doing her best to choke away all of her leads but finally pulled herself together to get over the finishing line in the breaker.

Can she push on in the 2nd set?

Badosa doesn't seem as comfortable as she was in previous rounds. Azarenka seems to be a good test. Don't blow it like Tstisipas did in his final!

Talk about a response from Badosa. 122mph first serves and a great FHDTL in the return game to break… this level after a 2-6 set is quite impressive

Then we follow it up by dropping serve after being up 40-15. Need to just stomp out any opposition from Vika here.

Let's just break again here.

Amazing hitting.
All moans about the slow court and fluffing up balls matters not now, with hitting like this.

Azarenka has changed her noise. Gone is the Phewwwwww noise every damn hit. More standard effort grunt!
Bout bloody time!

Badosa ... gave that game away completely. Sad to see but this is what the 1st WTA 1000 Final vs. possible 3-time winner looks like. Experience matters.

I see it more that Azarenka's grit forced that breakdown. It happens in tennis.
Can happen to many more than 1st timer..

Now look what just happened:)

There's Azarenka breaking Azarenka, lol. It's funny how mental all of this is, and usually always is, at the business end of tournaments. The shots and mechanics are there, the nerve is what lets them down.

Badosa has had some lucky points given her throughout this tournament. She's been my pick, but I thought it was over just then.

Absolutely over the moon for Badosa. She steeled through and won the match, didn't wait for Vika to lose it in the TB. I love to see a player backing themselves like that.

Also great to see how much it means to her. Bright future ahead after the season she's had, a point away from an RG SF as well.

Near the end, lots of very safe play from Vika down the middle, slow ball. Badosa pulled the trigger and took calculated risk and paid off. A very well-deserved win. Badosa also had better serves.

Not a bad week for Vika who dropped to #208 in 2017, now back at #26.

After watching 3 hours of brutal ball bashing I just started to appreciate Jabeur, Kasatkina, Hsieh and even Ostapenko more. At least they are courageous enough to hit drop shots.

Happy for Badosa, Sad for Vika.. Both played their hearts out, sad there can be only one winner.

But given Vika has won several in the past and Badosa having lost a narrow one at RG, the result is ok.

Obviously for most the Badosa win comes from nowhere but she’s been rising up all year.

Her title win skyrockets her up the rankings to #11 in the world. She’s 1 spot from the top 10.
