Welcome to the 14th event of the 2021 WTA Sudden Death League: ROLAND GARROS

Play starts on Sunday 30th May

2021 WTA SDL sheet - LEAGUE FILE

Rules of the game:

1. It's a knock out-system: if the player you picked wins, you're through to the next round. If she loses, you're out.

2. You can pick a player only ONCE. Obviously it's important to make smart choices in order to get far. If you have no picks remaining, you're eliminated from the competition.

3. You can't pick a player from a match that has started already.

4. You cannot advance to the next round via a walkover since it is hard to know exactly when someone announced they were pulling out HOWEVER this rule does not apply once you reach the semifinals

5. As you cannot win a match by a walkover it is highly advised that you make a back-up pick to your main pick.
Your pick and back up cannot be from the same match. If so, your back up will be invalidated.
If your main pick is invalid (ie late, unreadable or unspecific) then your back up will become your pick.

6. If the player you picked retires during the match, you're out. If she retires before the match, your back-up pick will be used unless you change your pick before your back up match begins.

7. NEVER edit your pick. If you want to change your pick, please quote your old pick and choose a new player. Edited posts will not be taken into consideration.

8. New rule for 2021: For late picks, we will use whichever timestamp Flashscore.com shows for the match. Your post must be made before the time Flashscore gives. Keep in mind, Flashscore might round the start time (ie if a match begins at 12:07, Flashscore might show 12:05 or 12:10.). Ties will not be counted.

We will be picking 10 pick's for this tournament. Our schedule is -

Pick 1: Round 1 bottom half
Pick 2: Round 1 top half
Pick 3: Round 2 bottom
Pick 4: Round 2 top
Pick 5: Round 3 bottom

In, please. If we're starting with the top half:
R1: Linette
BU: Svitoina
(If we're starting with the bottom half, I'll need to revise.)

Could you please explain why the Pick 1 and Pick 2 picks mention Top or bottom half and the rest don't?
Also could you please explain why the Pick 1 mentions "Top or bottom half" whereas the Pick 2 mentions "Bottom or top half"?

It's implied for both Picks #3 & #4 along with Picks #5 & #6 that they will follow the same formatting as Picks #1 & #2. In other words, we're picking bottom first, so #1 is 1R bottom, #2 is 1R top, #3 is 2R bottom, #4 is 2R top, #5 is 3R bottom...

Well the first 3 rounds we split into top and bottom half. Which then carries over. So if the top half starts pick 1 is r1 top pick 2 is r1 bottom and it alternates the rest of the way through until round 4.

The French is also a pain because it splits the first round over like...3 days which makes it even more insane.

Does that help? If not please let me know and I'll do my best to clarify further

Thanks, but that's not what Booz has indicated.
You are saying your 1st pick is Bottom half, then Top half, then Bottom half then Top half, etc. etc.
He should change what he has written if this is the case.

We cannot say it clearly at this point because it depends on which half plays first
