It is a bit depressing that there are almost no fans left for WTA semifinal. :(
In the stadium, or on TTW? #whynotboth

Meanwhile Teichmann seemingly running away with it!

6-2 Teichmann first set, second set still on serve at 1-0*

Yes, Karolina having been in fine form really ought to win this comfortably... As I'm only able to follow the lives scores I'm not sure whether Teichmann is on fire or simply Pliskova having one of her off days.

If your antivirus is up to date and you dare, you can look for yourself. Teichmann is playing very well. Not sure if she's on fire, but definitely smoldering.

Teichmann takes it, 6-2 6-4. Second set was a bit more of a struggle, but still, tremendous achievement!

For those keeping score at home, Jil has now beaten Osaka, Bencic and Pliskova in a row. Not bad!!

Back to back masters title runs of Giorgi and Teichmann would be...strange.

Can't say I believe Barty will let that happen, though.

Is this cute blonde Jill Teichman real ???????? or is it her equipement that is making her so good ?? What kind of racket is she using ?? What kind of String ??

Stosur/Zhang back in the winners circle. They win the Cincinnati Open in straight sets over Dabrowski/Stefani.

That is Stosur’s 27th doubles title and Zhang’s 9th.

It’s also Stosur’s 10th Premier Mandatory/WTA 1000 title.

Hitting with confidence and looked to really enjoy playing the game. The nerve!

I now have a new player on my watchlist - Jill Teichmann. Have never watched her match before this tournament.

Looking forward to a good match against Barty. This is her first final in a WTA 1000 event.

Just watched highlights of Teichmann's win over Pliskova. Impressed with her all court game. Nice to see a player willing to come into the net and play solid up there. I still think she will have her hands full in the final vs. Barty.

Aye i am watching. Barty took the 1st set and now up a break in the second. She got
Teichmann second guessing herself. Barty looking mighty dialed in right now

I was watching a bit.
Enough to conclude that Teichmann is out-matched now.
She shows a lot of promise however. I see her rising quickly now in the rankings.

Yes, she looks outmatched. Still, nice to see that took a smart player instead of a basher, Teichmann having beaten all the mindless ball bashers in her path this week.

When Ash is clicking, she’s hard to beat, and the only way I’ve seen her lose in that form is to a red hot big hitter, which Teichmann isn’t. That said, lots to like in Teichmann’s game. Tough day for her today.

Wow, nine whole posts for a WTA Masters 1000 final. :D Missed the match myself, but it sounds like that might have been for the better! Next up, Bleh vs. the Zedraffe. Could be good!

Agree with this. Someone like a Sabalenka who belts the living hell out of the ball every shot from start to finish seems to be the only style of player who can beat Ash.

Once Ash gets through the first and maybe second round of any tourney, where she may be a little shaky especially on serve, she becomes very hard to beat.

Her all court acumen is beautiful to watch but I think it is her relaxed, mental approach that sets her apart from all other women on the circuit. She is intensely focused on court but is able to differentiate between success as a tennis player and her worth as a human being. Almost unique as an elite sportsperson particularly as a tennis player.

Well done Ash, what a player, what a person.

Actually no, why? Not that Teichmann was so bad, just Ash was being herself.
And that was worth watching, what she does and how.
I think with the all the big names out (Barty excluded), there was not much hype.
Americans were out so easily and so early so the interest in general was minisculized.
Although my favourite lost, I am really happy for Ashleigh, she Imho symbolizes all the good things tennis can offer.
She is humble, respectful, very professional and she plays very intelligent tennis.
Let's face it. Hit and boom can only get you so far! But not beyond her.

With his 5th Masters title and 2nd this season, Zverev has become:

1. 5th in the list of current players with Masters titles (exceeded only by the traditional Big 4).
2. Joint 4th with Thiem in the number of singles titles won by the current top #10 (both on 17).
3. Joint 8th with Thiem in the overall list of current players with singles titles (both on 17).
4. Joint 1st with Djokovic in the number of singles titles won by current players this season (both on 4).
5. The 1st German man to win Cincinnati since it became a Masters 1000 event.
6. The 2nd German man to win Cinncinati since the tournament began (after Becker in 1985).

Case of having too much of THC!

Teichmann never quite get into her rhythm today. Barty was mixing up the low slices, high slices, heavy top spin, then flattening up put away shots. Add to that Barty's accuracy today was quite phenomenal. Might be a 'slight' big stage pressure today for Teichmann. Looks a little tight compared to her previous matches. But ... looking forward to watching more of her in the future! Barty was just too good today for Teichmann.

And as Ash said on both the court and in the presser, Teichman belongs at the top level of the game. Certainly the level she displayed this week, and even in the final, is definitely top 15.
