Apparently i am the only one who likes V-square, but i have used Cylcone 18 in my 18x20 with good results, why not try 18 or 19 v-square if you are looking for some spin. Hyper-G has never worked for me as it hurts my arm, but V-square and cyclone doesn't.

For me, the square strings are great (like Hyper-G, V-Square, Ultra Cable, etc), but due to the way they are measured (the sides of the string are shorter than the diagonal), they are quite a bit thicker than the gauge indicates. I have quite a few 18x20s, which means that even the thinnest square strings are more like 1.25mm round ones. I get very good spin from my Cyclone 18L and Weiss Cannon Red Ghost strings, and in the 18x20s they leave a more open string bed and a slightly higher launch angle.

It's all personal.

So few people played with the 100, I am quite surprised...
I do, I played with 97d, and was buying the new one for sure but I could demo both 97d and 100 and playing was very pleasant with 100, nowadays I am playing quite more on clay and was very forgiving in long rallies and surprisingly, for me, a very good control and stability. I never expected to play a 100 but I feel so good with this one. In the near future I will try a leather grip and a bit of lead tape on the frame.

I have a VCP 97HD and a VCP 100 (green versions): I simply play easier and better tennis with the 100.

The string pattern is relatively tight in the middle so control is still good on the 100. I also like the balance and the swing weight.

The 97HD is too much racket for my level... (I'm improving so will give the racket a new chance in 6 months or so)

I also have an 'old' Ezone 98 AI (310g) which I'm starting to like more and more (very comfy for my TE, even with poly) But I like the level of control of the VCP300 more.

The VCP300 is an underrated racket imop (at least for my level and age (43)).

I'm also very curious about opinions/reviews about the new 100! (compared to the green version)

I really like the Lynx Tour mains in the 310 version. Really like. The control is there and the stiffer, more crispy feel is a perfect accent to the frame. I don't feel like it is muted at all and instead really has a explosive sweet spot.

More importantly I am starting to gel with this racquet more now and hitting the shots I need to set up my patterns. This frame has some rather nice power to it and the spin I can generate is really heavy. I really think this is a perfect frame for a V7 Blade fan who wants something a little faster to swing, with a more HL balance.

Curious to hear from anybody who has tested the new VC100 (Red & Blue) vs. the new VCP100 (Purple & Green)? On paper they look very similar but how different do they play?

Looking for a new a racquet for my wife. She demoed the 21 VC 100L and really liked it lot but at 280g it may be too light.

What did you use as crosses?

got a pair of the vCore Pro D in a trade

Serial numbers are pretty far off so I wonder if it has anything to do with the strung specs.

336g 319mm 321SW
338g 320mm 328SW

Hoping that just a touch of lead on the lighter one will bring balance and SW to match.

At least it wasn't as far off from my vCore 95s were. I'll hit with it for a little bit with the strings and then I'll cut out and do some bare frame matching.

Go 1.5 grams at 12 and you should be good to go.

What do you put in the crosses with Lynx Tour mains? Sorry, someone asked already, Element 1.25. Lovely setup.

97HD and probably the new 97D are perfect candidates for gut/poly. Maybe go with a bit of a crisper poly though for the crosses. Something like gut/poly tour pro is still good, but I think it's a bit muted for that frame.

I like the vs gut/rpm hybrid. Can get it in a single pack which is kinda convenient too.
Anyone tried gut/poly on the new VCP 97 310?

My 97H feels great with gut mains/poly crosses. It really improves the feel compared to full poly IMO. I imagine it would be even better in the 310 since it's a less powerful frame.

with gut/poly or syngut/poly - do the strings move around at all or do they stay in place?

Hi all, i'm currently using Ezone 98 Tour. But sometimes i'm having issue with my one-handed backhand (i think because the balance) and sometimes it feels heavy on the swingweight. I'd really like to try the VCP 97, what do you guys think? considering in my country we cannot demo the racket. Thanks

For a One-handed backhand definitely try the VCP 97 or the Vcore 95

hit with the 97D for about 45 minutes so far with the string it came with (black pearl rough). I really enjoyed the flex, feel, plow of the racquet and it swung fairly fast. I let one of the college players who is down to one eZone 98 of the previous model and he likes it. Might be a good replacement but will really give it a go after an upcoming tournament.

I am the guy who adds leather to almost every racquet. I wonder how it would affect this particular racquet. I have yet to hit serves and volleys with it. I do like it stock ATM. I might even copy the specs onto my vCore 95...but not sure. Really nice racquet.

Now another thing I'm thinking of is how the 310 version plays. Yes...16m/18m...but if I get the 310 I have some room to customize. Add leather and touches of lead with out making the racquet too heavy. hhhhmmmm

To me the 310 version plays pretty hefty for it's class. Mine is 313 unstrung so there is a little extra happening there, but with an OG and a touch of lead at the tip it's 336 grams and 326 SW, which is plenty of weight for me. I think I made the right choice there even though I am sure the 320 must be awesome as well.

I'm getting out today and tomorrow with the VCP 97 310. I added an overgrip, a rubber band as a dampener and 2 grams each at 2 and 10 totaling 4 grams. The final specs come in at 339 grams and 7 pts. HL. I don't have the ability to measure swingweight. But I would imagine it has to be around 330 to 335. I'll also be tinkering with lead placement and weight during my time out with it to really get this thing dialed in to my liking. I'll be comparing this racket to my modified 2015 Pro Staffs which have been my bread and butter for the past 6 years. Fingers crossed. And for what it's worth... I'm a 4.5 rated singles player with an aggressive baseline game that can move in and finish points when given the opportunity to do so. So my feedback is solid.

Report back soon

Made the wholesale switch to VCP100 last month, Lux/gut hybrid. Went undefeated in our 9.0 sectional and headed to Nationals next month. Coming from Pure Aero and EZone 100+, love the 63RA and balance. Not quite as good on serves but control and comfort exceptional everywhere else. Not a "power" racquet but at 9-all in a third set match tiebreak when everything is on the line, power is overrated. A lot of guys with Pure Drive 107's and other widebodies went home lol.

VCP D review, I'll go in reverse from conclusion to details that you may or may not care about.

Conclusion: I'm buying more, you may or may not want to depending on $$$$ and rack-aholic level. I'm switching from Vcore 95 (2021) to the D.
The D is almost an HD clone.
HD versus D: A 5% bump in power, an interesting feel of balance with the extended "throat", if you liked the HD get the D, it is an improvement, but not to the extent you will win more matches just by making the switch. I also like the color on the D more than the HD, don't judge me, but I do.

Playtime about 30 hours now over a few weeks.

Strings: Full natural gut 50lbs, will order my second one with a gut/poly hybrid, any suggestions are welcome.

Previous rackets: Vcore HD for 2 years, Vcore 95 (2020) 1 year, Vcore 95 (2021) 8 months. VCP 330, Head speed Pro, Prestige MP, DR 98 plus, Pure Strike Tour, various years ago.

How it compares/plays:

Forehand is the key for me:
Switching from the 95 to the D I found the qualities I enjoyed with the HD. The 95 is awesome, amazing racket and if you have a more semi-western/western forehand maybe better to allow for more whip like action, for me the small decrease in weight encouraged me to whip/wrist/ be lazy with my forehand, kind of a bad habit. I am enjoying the difference with the D because it forces me to prepare early and takes my forehand form on a more linear path and the ball I personally produce is heavier. By heavier, it doesn't look faster or more impressive but the result is opponents are miss-hitting my forehand because of the penetration and power of the topspin, it's a little different than the 95 result I get which is more wrist manufactured topspin. That's my own technique issue, not the racket, so the 95 is certainly great if you have a certain type of forehand.

For my one-handed backhand: both are great, D and 95, but the D can give me a slightly heavier boom to the flatter one hander I hit. Slices are easier to get deep and penetrating, but I need to prepare early and not just slap at it like I can with the 95.

Serves: are a little heavier and less "crafty" than the 95.

Volleys: really are great with both the 95 and D.

The only adjustment I needed some time on was the overhead, prepare earlier with the D because I can't just muscle flick it with bad form like I could with the 95.

Quality control:
Let's put the rumors of changing quality control of Yonex to bed, look at this selection I got from TW using their matching service:
#1: W:324.27g Bal:31.1cm SW:292
#2: W:324.38g Bal:31.1cm SW:292
#3: W:324.22g Bal:31.1cm SW:292

To really decide if you want this over the HD I would ask yourself if you want slightly more power, you might demo it to feel the slight difference with whatever they did with the throat, and if you like the color (yes, I'm serious). If you love your HD and aren't the racket-holic like most, you are probably not missing anything revolutionary.

I think the D and HD benefit me with a mix of semi-western/eastern hybrid forehand, long arms/long strokes (6'4"), and my serve is hard, flat, and then I have a few versions of lefty knuckleball and small kick serve. I think the 95 or other rackets might be better for a pure kick serve style and other rackets besides the HD, D, and 95 "might" be better for 2 handed bachands.

VCP H: One final note, I played with the VCP 330 for awhile. I think some might gravitate toward that or the new VCP H because of the open pattern. I've had both the VCP HD and 330 overlayed on each other, there is almost not difference in the sweet spot on the spacing of the strings. Now, the weight difference is real. I'm going to venture out on a limb having not hit the VCP H yet, that it is too heavy, it's different than the 330, unlike the D which is about the same as the HD. I found almost no spin difference in the rackets, so I would be cautious using the super heavy new H. I'm not even demo-ing it, curious to hear the reviews though.

Thanks for the detailed review. I'm currently playing with Vcore 95 (2021) and looking forward to switching to the Vcore Pro, either 310 or D. What is your opinion of 310? Why did you prefer the D, considering that 95 and 310 are of the exactly same weight?

It looks like all the reports about quality control are concerning either 310 (low SW) and H (high SW), but not D. I'm just speculating here, but maybe D was the original development model, and 310 and H adjustments?

That's some really good SW, even lower than my HD. With TW posting their average of 330, I was thinking the D might be too much.

I love my HD’s, but the tweaks they made for the D are exactly what I would have asked. Do you have any comments regarding the change from 20 mm (HD) to 21 mm (D) beam?

I like the extra weight. It helps me get out of my bad habits with my forehand, the weight pulls my arm into place as I swing so to speak as opposed to me veering off course and being able to flick topspin with my arm. The difference in weight isn't huge, but that is the result. I do think I could play with the 310 and win 90% of the same matches I would win with the D, but for me I like it. Also, the tighter pattern is something I enjoy more even though I mentioned the difference is slight, I think the pattern on the HD an D hits the ball at a trajectory I am more familiar with.

It seems the new 310 is closer now to the D in weight, so it might be better for more players, maybe even me, but I'm done testing for now.

Appreciate the detailed review as one of my current racquets is also the HD. I have been monitoring this thread closely as I was trying to decide between the new 310 and the D without the benefit of demos.
I will definitely go with the D, especially after seeing the specs of the 3 you received. I need the strung swing weight to be around 325 or less because I am that rare player that uses both a 1HBH and 2HBH.
Thanks Fuzzy!

Curious to hear from anybody who has tested the new VC100 (Red & Blue) vs. the new VCP100 (Purple & Green)? On paper they look very similar but how different do they play?
Quoting myself ;)

Just ordered both a VC100 and VCP100. Will do extended demo and see which one is better and sell the other. Now to figure out how to string them up….

Been playing with Velocity MLT 17 for arm comfort instead of poly. Recommendations for multifilament string tension on the VCP 100?

Thanks for the review @FuzzyYellowBalls

When it comes to the feel, is there a difference between the HD and the D (I'm not talking power)? If you have hit with the 360+ PMP, how does the D compare when it comes to feel and precision?

Cheers
There is something there that is different and I think it is the throat situation they changed and the stiffness, it is slightly more "normal" feeling than "soft" the D to the HD. Precision seems to be the same for me, I had no issues at all with that changing. Personally, I think they added some power through stiffness and therefore removed some of the softness of the HD, which I don't think that extreme softness was necessary in the HD. I remember serving first serves sometimes with the HD and thinking I really need to hit the $@#$ out of the ball, come on, hit it, to get the full oomph. The D seems to not need that. All of these changes are very small, more a tweak than a change for me, but all good.

I used the older Prestige, like 8 years ago, thinking back that Prestige had more control, but getting power from it was not easy, but I played a nice serve and volley and doubles game with it. The Yonex is more of an all around package for me, almost as much control, equal stability, more power, much more comfort, and larger sweet spot. That is how it compares to many rackets for me, like Strike Tour or the Speed Pro.

Anyone tried gut/poly on the new VCP 97 310?
I'll do that next. Vs rpm most likely.

In my brief few outings with 310version it felt that the stick could benefit from that little bit of extra zing gut mains provides.

As a reference my 310gr version is stock and currently strung with ptp 125 black

As a reference my 310gr version is stock and currently strung with ptp 125 black
Poly Tour Pro is very comfortable but super low powered. Probably not a good string for the VCP 310.

Do you play the D without added weights and with original grip? I had to add weight to my HD for stability and power…

And btw did you receive a racquet as part of a promotion/nice review deal?
