2021 Yonex VCore Pro Official Thread

I would say there's a bit more flex with HD's.
However, I don't feel like its a dramatic change.
In fact, my HD's had a 59 RA and the 310's have a 60 RA.
They flex differently due to the changes to the 310, but overall I don't find them all that much different (from a flex standpoint).

Paul the owner at Angell I think, inroduced the concept of even flex and dynamic flex. Wondering if these fall more clearly into one category or not and might help me decide which way to go.

The new line has lower vibration frequency than the old (aka «dynamic» flex rating). This also applied to the new D model, which has a higher RA rating than the HD model (61 vs 59), but a lower vibr freq (125 vs 131). There’s lot of info on the different metrics in the link below:

Yes, I definitely feel less vibration in the 97D vs the 97HD

I received my tungsten tape from TW.
I put two-inch strips at 10 and 2 on both racquets (i.e. four in total on each racquet).
The new specs are:
- Swing weight of 325
- Static weight of 336
- 5 points head light
I haven't been able to try it out yet, but am looking forward to doing so.
This should be the perfect setup for me.

Can somebody compare Yonex Vcore Pro 97 310 to head Gravity Pro?How they differ in terms of power, stability, feel, comfort?

Can somebody compare Yonex Vcore Pro 97 310 to head Gravity Pro?How they differ in terms of power, stability, feel, comfort?
Power: in stock form Gravity Pro is a bit more powerful (if you are able to swing 330 SW comfortably). If you match VCore Pro swingweight to ~330 (as stock Gravity Pro), it will be more powerful
Stability: both are good, I didn't have issues with them in stock form
Feel: both are soft. For me Gravity is a bit muted and I don't know if I hit clean. VCore Pro gives me a bit better feel. However, it's purely subjective ;) Still, I'd say both are good, control oriented.
Comfort: both are very good
Sweetspot: Gravity has large sweetspot, VCore Pro has decent sweetspot (good enough for me)
For me Gravity Pro is more demanding if you want to attack a slow, "dead" ball from the back of the court. It's a bit harder to swing and requires a bit more racket speed to hit hard. Also I like VCore Pro more on second serves (easier to generate spin). Gravity Pro has for me better slices and it's a bit more accurate.

still playing the 97d with leather...starting to get used to it. i liked the stock weight though and felt maybe just a little lead would help. Might back track and do that with a stock or a very light leather grip. swings faster/easier than some of my prestige MP with leather in which I need to be playing much more than I am these days

I noticed that too and am curious if this is generalizable to the entire series or is due to the differences in weight distribution in the frames tested(or both). I have two hds, both with sw in the 330s without lead, and I wonder what the vibration frequency difference would look like between hd and d with identical balance and swingweight (In other words, all else being equal, which would be more arm friendly)

Most likely an effect of the extension of the throat.

Could anyone compare the 2021 Vcore Pro 97 to the Ezone DR98?
I'm wondering if there is potential for me to easily switch from the DR98 to this new softened up VCP.
Thanks in advance!

Demos are here. VCP310 is a lot more beautiful in reality. Colors are more dark and serious.

Near a bonsai. At their natural environment :p

They retailer by accident send me a new overgrip from yonex. It’s called yonex super grab tough. It’s f awesome. More tacky than normal super grap and thicker at 0,65mm.

Gamma RZR Tac is a lot more tacky feeling than regular Yonex Supergrap. It doesn't feel at all the same, at least when fresh. Pretty sure it's slightly wider as well.
Sorry, I was referring to the stock Yonex Base grip. I somehow missed that you were asking about the overgrip. I haven't tried the supergrap tough yet.

Hi All, I have the 97 D on order, as I have decided to retire my RF97 v11 and put it up for sale. Any thoughts on what string works best in 97D and at what tension?
Finally got my hands on a demo VCP 2021 310g on a grip size 3. Its strung with Poly Tour air at 55lbs and has an overgrip, and I have added bumper tape to the protect the head bumper strip. Weighs in at 343g. Will get out on the court over the next three days and report back my findings.

First impressions.

Vcore 95 2021: more crisp feel/byte than 2019, more power . Good feedback compared to the ultra muted sterilised VC98 2021. Overall i prefer 2019 model…. it was more natural to swing. I don’t like the balance of 2021…. all the weight feels placed into the throat…. it swings like one piece…. same swing motion as VC98 2021…. it’s like holding a wooden plank. No fluidity….seriously if you have 1HB avoid this stick. Ezone 98 2020 and V Core line of 2021 is c….p.

As you may know i f love this company and that’s why i am bash out all of theirs sticks after DR. Because it’s the reality since VDM. VCP310 21 was a big surprise to me. It’s the best VCP stick since Duel G. Forget the firm contact of Blue/Green VCP….. after the muted green VCP, feel and ball connection are finally back. For gods shake ball feedback is back!!!! I read some comments that it flexes around the throat area which is not true….. the flex comes from the head. The added thickness (shape looks a lot more squared) did the trick….. you don’t need to add weight at 3/9…..super stable anywhere in the head. We have an easy to manoeuvre stick, solid at every shot and aimed at the all around player. In terms of power it would be unfair to say that is low powered or mediocre or more than enough…..it will give back whatever you put in. It’s on players ability to extract its power/potential. To me it’s the most powerful VCP…. I had no issues on any kind of serve…. I only need to time it. On ground strokes flat shots come with ease….. on the other hand you must use your wrist for a top spin/full spin game or to lift low balls. My only concern now is if i should purchase it right away or wait for BF….. i am so happy that after so many years i enjoyed playing with a yonex stick. Also more added points for the sexy looks!! Bravo Yonex…. now go fix next gen version of ezones.

Sorry mate never used Gamma.

Super Grap plays almost like Wilson Pro.
Super Grap Tough plays like Wilson Pro RG edition…. both are more tacky/smooth/glossy…. SG and Wilson Pro are more rubbery/firm.

Your opinion is welcome here, but don't ever tell people to avoid the 2021 Vcore Pro 95 if you have a 1 handed backhand. Look at the Vcore Pro 2021 95 thread or any thread on these boards asking for advice on the best stick for a 1 handed backhand, Vcore Pro 95 2021 is the most popular in the Yonex line and one of the most recommended from any brand for 1HBH. For me and many others the 2019 was also great for 1hbh, but the 5% boost in power from the 2021 fixes the serve issues with the 2019 and makes the 1hbh better.

I tried the previous model but something about it I didn't like. only used it for a few minutes as my friend and I had several demos to try. Around that time I was playing often with my Redondo 98MP so the weight wasn't an issue. Just something about it didn't work out for me

I have been using VC95 since 2018 and tried the 2021, and have to say that felt improvement in OHBH, slices and volleys. My issue with 2021 was that once I increased the weight and swing-weight, it became too powerful and needs more spin to control the ball (since also string spacing is more), which doesnt really suit my game. So I stick to my weighted 2018 model for now, but I can see why some find it better. I also like the feel of 2018 better.

Having said that, I am looking for more stable/forgiving option and my Duel G 330 is becoming a little heavy, so I will be trying the new VC Pro 97D, and see how that goes.

I'm loving the VCP 97 310's as well.
I measured both of mine on a Babolat RDC and they were both:
  • 332 static weight (with grip and yonex vibration dampener)
  • 320 swing weight
  • 60 RA
I added four two inch strips of the TW tungsten tape to 10 and 2 on both racquets.
Updated specs are:
  • 336 static weight
  • 326 swing weight
I hit once with it at 320 and once with it 325.
I realize that's not a huge difference in swing weight, but I'm not convinced (yet) that I like the higher swing weight version more.
It felt REALLY GOOD stock (at 320), but I kind of succumbed to the TT adage that adding a few grams here and there will OBVIOUSLY make it even better.........ha ha ha. :)

I'm going to try and hit again this weekend with one at 320 and the other 326 and then make a decision.

Did the power increased ?

Yonex dampener it’s one of the heaviest out there. You can use sth lighter or try it without. It doesn’t produce the irritating sound some racquets have when you use it without damp.

I switched to the D, but it was very specific to my forehand, to slow it down and stop my habit of whipping the VC95 more and more, purely a problem of my game and honestly a flaw in my habits. It certainly is more stable, the D, but I don't modify my sticks so not sure a weighted up VC95 would be less stable. The launch angle is also different, that's a noticeable change from the 95.

I'd say the D has about 5% more power than the HD using the same string setup and you don't really lose control or touch it just doesn't feel as "plush" I guess as the HD. With the HD I used full gut for more power, the D I use a hybrid poly main gut cross. I've used the HD 2021 VC95 and now the D, they are all very close, tiny differences in each, launch angle being a bigger change from the 95.

Stability wise they may be similar, but I think and expect that VC Pro would be more forgiving. Also VC95 2018 has already a relatively lower launch angle with weight on the hoop (I have 5-6 grams).

I did try the older HD version which I loved on especially on backhand / serves / slices, but somehow couldnt gel on the forehand and returns so with new version I am hoping it will be better, based on some reviews I saw and also new beam.

-thats good/interesting
-the string choice ^ are very telling on the power change
-i also felt that the HD was underpowered by the thin frame, flexible and/or the 18/20 pattern
-when and if i get to string the 97D, ill provably go with 18g poly at 50lbs or 49/47lbs!? thoughts??

With the HD and the D I keep it around 48 pounds. If it helps that seems to be the consensus in the old Yonex HD thread amongst quite a few people who were tinkering with string tension. I guess the consensus is/was go lower on tension for these rackets than what you normally use, for most that landed around 48 lbs.

Specifically on my D I went 48 lbs poly 18g and 49 lbs gut.

Yes, I think it did increase power a bit.
However, that was a bit of a negative as I’m not really looking for free power. I think I actually prefer it stock (i.e. 320 swing weight). I’ll post an update after I get out again this weekend.

Managed to get on the court for 30 minutes today before the rain arrived to practice my serve with VCP 2021 310g demo. I found I was able to hit some great kick serves and generate a lot of RHS. Flat serves were also great, however I compared the serves with my Prostaff 97 v13, and found that the Prostaff offered a little more pop. I am putting that down to the stifness of the Prostaff against the lower stiffness of the VCP. I think I will try taking out the string dampner from the VCP and see what difference that makes. Hopefully, will try to get on court tomorrow with the ball machine to see how the BH, FH and volleys feel.

Current Blade V7 18x20 player but I Just bought a VCP310 to to see if it's worth switching over. I love the plow and plushness of the Blade but looking for something a little more maneuverable. Strung up the VCP last night with Tourna BHBS7 & PSGD. Looking forward to hitting this stick as well as the VC95 and D.

I am very amazed of how different 2021 version plays to previous blue/green VCPs. It’s like a new line….. you won’t believe how much free spin you could get from a VCP for the first time. I am sure if it was Head they wouldn’t loose the chance to introduce a new line :p . The small increase in thickness was the best decision they took…. super super stable. Just found a proper balanced / weighted 310 and use it as it is. The squarish head shape adds lots of forgivenes like it’s 100inch. Too bad that prices have reached the sky…. i need a second one to play test all of my favourite strings on this sucker. Hyper G, Confidential, 4G, Lynx Tour , YPTP…. even the new yonex rev. And again i can’t hide my happiness that after 5 years we have a yonex stick again with feel and ball connection. Go and buy it yonex enthusiasts…. you don’t even have to try it. The soft/crisp feel with the added head flex is divine.

Yeah, I fell in love with it after first 5 minutes too. It's like eating a cake and having a cake in every aspect :)

By the way, what string setups have you tried and recommend for it (new VCore Pro 97 310)? Keeping string tension, directional control and durability are a priority for me.

I am still using the demo which is strung with Dunlop explosion or explosive. I don’t even know the string. It reminds me of rpm
blast. I know for sure that the stringer is mediocre…..every yonex demo i get from him plays 20-30% better when i string it by myself. I believe this stick needs a shaped string to shine. I can’t wait to put hyper G at 21kg when i ll receive mine. But because Hyper G plays soft maybe a more firm feel from Confidential or Lynx Tour will suit better. We shall see. Also on previous VCP I used 1.20mm string…. but 2021 model has enormous sweet spot and spin potential…. I don’t find any reason not to stay with 1.25mm.
