Everything ended up being a liability. Ruud didn't even serve well on pressure points. Didn't return well, didn't volley well. I guess the positive is that he was able to hold long enough to get it to 5-5 in the 1st, but ultimately that did nothing.
 
If you can't beat Nadal indoors in 2022, and Djokovic playing at 50 percent and passive most of the match, I don't think you can win a big title. LOL. Ruud aint getting any better at all and making real strides. The titles go through Nadal/Nole

Many many congratulations to Novak! What an end to the season, and he ended it with an ace and the biggest trophy. He's simply the best player in the world.

There was a way. I watched some of Ruud's previous matches here and there was more than enough to hope for with the way he played. Sure, ended up being disappointing in the final as one could expect but it's still aggravating, just how disappointing..

Djokovic has proven that this is a tournament for young men, am I right or am I right?

Perfectly timed performance, controlled aggression that went nuclear when it was vital.

Feels like a long overdue number 6. Either way, the disappointments against Murray and Zverev are now a very distant memory.

Norway won't be all smiles tonight. But I can assure you there is a certain someone from the Vikingland who is loving this. ;)

He can be slowed down, but no more than that. Since he wasn't allowed to compete for 8k+2k points this season, some serious payback is due in 2023...

They are equal now - with cream puff draws like this, he can easily get to 10 titles.

Fed did 6 in a span of 8 years from his first win. ATG‘s in every draw.
Djokovic did 6 in a span of 14 years since his first win, needed to try for 7 years since win #5 and the cream puffiest of draws to win it this year.

This is not to denigrate Djokovic. He is only doing what must be done: put these NexGen losers out of their misery. Just pathetic. They spend more time on social media it seems. No one can ever complain about Weak Era, cos that era is NOW. Djoks only task should be to finally complete the big boss level: Beat Nadal in a FO final next year.
 
Ruud is very smart in this post-final speech.
Very diplomatic, so orthodox, so kind, so polite, so uncontroversial.

Well, Djokovic didn't need the cream puffiest of draws to win here (2017 still might be worse) as he went 5-0 and only dropped 1 set. He likely still would have won it with a somewhat more difficult field.
