This has nothing to do with conditions or time off court either so I really hope we don’t start hearing these excuses. This is literally just Nadal displaying such mental muggery. Felix has been poor, this is not a great match at all

Nadal did screw up there but I feel like Nadal needs help from Felix to win this match. He looks to be too big of a number from the baseline. Nadals groundstrokes aren't doing any sort of damage out there while Felix is stretching him out with his FH.

Tbh as bad as the next gen are overall there are quite a few of them that are like one very good attribute away from being pretty serious players. Felix with the BH, Zverev with the FH, Tsitsipas with the slice and BH generally which would feed into return quality etc... probably too late for any of those guys especially Zverev with his FH (and Tsits really) to make game changing strides in any of those departments though. If the stroke doesn't come naturally there's quite a low ceiling associated with its maximal development.

??? Nadal has not been outgunned at all. Felix’s BH in particular has been weak ass

If by now they haven't fixed those shots, they never will.

Felix will never have a world class BH like Djokovic, Nishikori, Nalbandian, Safin, Davydenko etc.

Zed also lacks a reliable second serve, often decelerating so much he has no spin and control.

A big problem is that often they have no only the technical weaknesses but glaring mental ones too *ahem* Zverev.

Yeah still it's quite unfortunate that the missing piece for a lot of these guys is so obvious yet none of them have been able to fully round out their games. A lot of them do have some level of talent.

These conditions really favor younger players. The speed takes point construction and switching tactics out of the equation because if your opponent is bashing there is no time to do either. And that is one of the great advantages Rafa has over the field, his ability to construct points and think multiple shots ahead. There is a reason the younger players keep winning the event. Also the younger highly ranked in recent years all serve well, Rafa can't win many free points on his serve. No reason these factors were ever going to change this season.
