Honestly what a shocking year from Medvedev. I thought he was coming back into form after watching him at Astana but he's mentally all over the place. Hopefully he's back to playing proper tennis next year.

Meanwhile very good result for Djokovic. Regardless of how bad he was playing in this tournament, Medvedev is always a massive threat on an indoor hardcourt if he rounds into form. Djokovic will be much less worried about facing the winner of a Ruud vs Tsitsipas/Rublev SF in the final.

Medvedev choked, he's lost his nerve hasn't he? That loss to Nadal at the Australian Open then his minor groin surgery ruined his 2022.

The worst choke I made in tennis was losing 7-6 6-7 7-6 in a game of Top Spin 4 many moons ago.

He will also go first on Friday and likely first on Saturday. The scheduling will be more to his advantage.

It’s a good thing as he will get the scheduling more in his favour. It also might be Fritz and not FAA who goes through.

Not the first time he lost the plot. Feel bad for the guy as he went into this season in high spirits, with some amazing results in previous years. Perhaps the Australia final still has its effects.

I can't understand how Tsitsipas has not come further than he already has. The guy has an extraordinary game and talent. He is incredible at the net aswell, few who can play like he does at the net. He loses too many close matches but today he found a way but it was thanks to Med collaps there serving for the match.
