The young age allowed Alcaraz an exagerated number of UEs. Without those (a thing that will be fixed soon), the scoreline would have been much more one way.
it's about damn timemajor threat to Djokovic and Nadal's final slam counts, no?![]()
I only have experience in early XIX Century military campaigns, but I am a fast learner. You never had the makings of a Madison Ave Ad Exec.
Does anyone know if any other player has beaten Nadal and Djokovic in consecutive matches before? It must be the first time it's ever happened.
Look at his winners too. The match wasn’t even finished when he reached 50, doubling Djokovic. The young age allowed Alcaraz an exagerated number of UEs. Without those (a thing that will be fixed soon), the scoreline would have been much more one way.
So, he is the Strongrule of podcasts?I am so looking forward to Gill Gross's videos (his own channel and Three - A Tennis Show) - Carlos defeated both Rafa and Novak and Gill ALWAYS downplays Carlos's wins. Can he do that now? He just adores Djokovic and lacks objectivity about him.
it's about damn time
So when Djokovic was practically still a child. Anything since 2011?Nalbandian 15 years ago lol
You don’t drink enough and you seem like you oppose objectifying women. It’s not going to work out.I only have experience in early XIX Century military campaigns, but I am a fast learner.
Nobody gets to match point 3 times in a match against the Djoker unless they have a lot of talent!

I like Gill - he's great at analysis but he claims to be objective and he usually is - except where Djokovic is concerned. He had predicted Djokovic would prevail in this semi way back at the beginning of the tournament - I predicted Carlos of course. Three is about the big 3 so of course there is a bias towards them but it's sometimes a bit too much! So, he is the Strongrule of podcasts?

Nalbandian, everyone knows this
The difference in this match was that Carlos got one more break of service than Djokovic did. If Djokovic had lost that first set tiebreak the match would have been over much earlier. But for 1st 2 sets and half, Djokovic won more points, higher 1st serve %, higher 1st and 2nd serve winning %.
It's was more like Carlos has made it close and somehow escaped 2nd set.
Federer, Davydenko and Nalbandian.Does anyone know if any other player has beaten Nadal and Djokovic in consecutive matches before? It must be the first time it's ever happened.
Federer, Nalby and Davydenko all did it.I was about to ask this myself. So we have to go as far back as Nalbandian in 2007? Amazing to think nobody has done it since until now, not even Fed!
Yet another mark of distinction for the rising young superstar of tennis!!
Honestly Djokovic is still playing pretty dogshit compared to last year, and still it takes a final TB 7-5 for a redlining Carlos to beat him.
I dunno, Novak in 2021 form still takes him in straight sets or 3-1 in BO5 IMO.

Mentioning this the third time on this page, WTF'10 was the last time it was done.I was about to ask this myself. So we have to go as far back as Nalbandian in 2007? Amazing to think nobody has done it since until now, not even Fed!

Yep. Nalby did it in 2007 Madrid. Was this after Nalbandian?

Jabeur Pegula is pretty much the worst kind of WTA final. If women's tennis gets killed, it will be murdered by these kinds of crappy match-ups.
There is more interest in Alcatraz playing R1 of Rio than these two playing the final of a Tier 1 event.
What about Wimbledon 2019?Yep. Nalby did it in 2007 Madrid.
Fed did it at the 2010 YEC (beat Murray there as well as a bonus)
Davy did it at 2009 Shanghai.

And Federer on top, too.Nalbandian 15 years ago lol
A very close loss at 38.What about Wimbledon 2019?
Oops, I forget about this one!

I know, but these kinds of horrible match-ups will happen even more frequently. It's only Jabeur vs. Pegula because Swiatek sat this one out.
So Alcaraz is the first one to do it on clay.
Yep. even the commentators mentioned it.So Alcaraz is the first one to do it on clay.
No you wouldn’t.Not sure I would say he is back to form yet.
HmmI have even started to think that I like Alcaraz’s Vamoses better than Nadal’s.
Eh, not that impressive considering rafa and djoker are 35 coming off injury and terrible form.Yep. even the commentators mentioned it.
Murray should've done it at 2016 Madrid, IMO. He probably played better than in in Rome the following week.![]()
See. Told you.
I admit that this was peak Djokovic.Djokovic did play near his best and lost. Djokovic fans just won't admit it, he played great and lost to a player who never gives up.
I think Rafa has always seen that but Novak is only now seeing it.major threat to Djokovic and Nadal's final slam counts, no?![]()
He has yet to peakI admit that this was peak Djokovic.
I don’t find him biased. He’s easy to listen to and talks a lot of sense. So, he is the Strongrule of podcasts?

Jabeur is a pretty exciting player to watch though. Pegula of course is not in the least, but such is life.I know, but these kinds of horrible match-ups will happen even more frequently.
Swiatek can't be expected to reach every final.
