“I was under a lot of pressure in Australia, everyone kept telling me that I could become World No. 1 by performing there, and I was disappointed with my result.

I am going to add the names of the new winners throughout the year to the top of this thread. It's interesting: Nadal has won 3, with Alcaraz and Rublev winning 2 - so far everyone else who has won has won once. We have 8 more months to go for 2022 (December they take off from the ATP tour).

God Zverev blaming others again
This is why I love Carlos so much - he doesn't mope, he doesn't slouch, he doesn't blame - too many of the other players do so when they really ought to be concentrating on their tennis! :)

Reilly Opelka joins the two or more titles club for 2022 with his win in Houston. Carlos Alcaraz and Andrey Rublev also have 2 tiles; Rafael Nadal has 3 so far this year...

Just added Andrey Rublev to the winner's list with his win in Belgrade. This is his third ATP title in 2022, so he is now tied with Rafael Nadal for the most wins this year.

The great weak era/strong era paradox.

Is it a "weak era" because no player(s) have left their imprint and dominated so far this year?

Or is it a "strong era" because a highly competitive field ensures a diverse array of champions at every level of the tour?

17 title winners so far this year. We have two players who have won 3 titles, and 2 players who have won 2 titles so far this year... (this could change in a few hours though).

Am I the only one who finds it strange that the top 3 players in the world have not won a single tournament yet in 2022? I know that will eventually change but Djokovic, Medvedev and Zverev still haven't lifted a trophy this year!

Novak obviously wasn't able to play a bunch of tournaments and is still knocking the rust off. Medvedev was super close to winning Australia and had a predictable mental let up in the following months after blowing such an opportunity, along with a developing injury that he's now sitting out from.

Zverev is the only one I would really expect to have gotten one of the Bo3 titles by now.

Of the current top #10 this year so far:

Nadal, Rublev = 3 titles each.
Tsitsipas, Ruud, Auger-Aliassime, Norrie = 1 title each.
Djokovic, Medvedev, Zverev, Berrettini = 0 titles each.

There are six tournaments left in June 2022: Rosmallen, Stuttgart, Halle, Queen's Club, Eastbourne, and Mallorja. Looking forward to seeing where everything stands before Wimbledon! (Wimbledon begins in June, but the winner will win in July).

Matteo has won 2 Grass tournaments in a row going into Wimbledon - can he make it to the final again this year? Can he win Wimbledon? I don't think so but you never know!

Has this year so far been more unusual than most years in regards to how many different players have won titles? We have two players who have won 4 titles (Alcaraz and Nadal), two players who have 3 titles (Rublev and Ruud), seven players who have won 2 titles (Bautista Agut, Berrettini, Djokovic, Fritz, Norrie, Opelka and Tsitsipas) and 18 players who won a single title so far in 2022! That is 29 different players in the first 7 months of 2022!

Glad to see Sinner back in the winner's circle for the first time since last year. Will Medvedev join him in Los Cabos?

Has there ever been a year with so many different title winners by August of the year? There have now been 31 different title winners so far this year! and only 11 of them have won more than one title!
