I wonder what Rublev will say during his victory speech?

Great win for Rublev!!!! (: (: (:

I hope they both talk about the ridiculous Russian ban at Wimbledon insanity....

Djokovic luck run out a little last set but he is working himself back into form. Nadal vs Djokovic to settle GOAT would be epic. Djokovic would still technically be only level on 21 slams but most people would just say he's GOAT anyway lmao.

I didnt see it all, but there were some very entertaining spots of tennis, esp in the 2nd set. Hard to watch someone completely deflate after winning a tie-break however. Usually the reverse happens.

Very worrying as a Djokovic fan. Djokovic is so low on fitness and strength. I don’t expect him to win the French on this basis. I will be happy with a quarter final showing. At Wimbledon is his better chance but still will be tough.

I just got to hope he can work on this in next month but seems a bit to soon.

He has been gassed before in these type of tournaments but when slam arrives he is fine tuned. We gotta remember he is still fresh from a long break and RG is a month away. He will sort his fitness out in a months time perfectly for bo5. Nothing to worry about.

Hmm, a lot of mixed feelings right now. On the one hand I should want my favourite player to fight hard and take the match the distance but if I'd known what was coming in the 3rd I'd have preferred him to lose the tiebreak.

Much better level from Djokovic this week compared to Monte Carlo but still lots of work to do, especially with his fitness which is concerning to say the least. Congrats to Rublev on a well deserved title. (y)

Perhaps Ivanisevic's comments about Djokovic getting sick before MC were not just him excusing Novak's loss. Just looking at such fitness woes, it seems like Novak's body was either weakened by infection or might still be fighting it.

It's not normal for a professional tennis player - who is well-rested and well-known for fitness - to be so exhausted in a third set.
Perhaps those who sneered at Rafa’s fitness during the AO will be less inclined to do so now. Just shows how strong Rafa actually was and is, considering he had a longer lay off and is a year older than Novak, not to mention he was playing BO5.

What we do need though is to start asking questions how certain 35+ year old can run like a rabbit every tournament he plays all year round without getting gassed + play with same intensity in the slams. You gotta wonder. ;)

It's worrying that nowdays he routinely losses the 1st set. Other than that, this week has been a step forward.

Can't be Superman in every tournament on the comeback trail
Overall decent tournament from Djoko - in the end his inability to win the first set in matches has cost him, but the tennis is getting there

Nadal is best at suffering, he's said he enjoys the challenge of pain. That's the key to winning in your mid-30s.
Nadal has said his favorite match of all-time is 2012 AO Final, when he lost to Djokovic in 6 hours.... Nadal loves the challenge of pain and suffering (y)

Djokovic is speaking in Serbian and of course I have no idea what he is saying... now he has switched to English! (:

Good tournament overall for Djokovic but still long way to go.

He also needs to learn how to play his game from the get go, donating first sets over and over again won't win him big titles. RG was a miracle.

Has Nadal been deported and put through that type of trauma? That can have a negative effect on performance.

Haha. Because he is The Bull. Last I read on this board he was old and slow…..now he “runs like a rabbit”? People need to make up their minds maybe.
