So looks like nobody's voted for Andy, could it be another case of the classic tt tennis vote striking again? Surprising nobody threw a vote in after he won that set.

The hip will only get worse as he plays more. The doctors warned he would need a second operation if he continues to play at this level. I really think he should do the right thing and retire, but he won't because he's too stubborn for his own health.

In the world off TTW hypotheticals, couldn’t help myself thinking a 2013 non artificial hip Murray would thrash this guy.
The 2013 version of Sir Andrew Barron Murray OBE OLY on grass is the GOAT in Men's Singles.

GOAT stands for Glaswegian On Attacking Tennis

I hope it's not serious but anything hip related with Murray isn't a good sign. He could miss Wimbledon....hell it could be the end of his career.

Damn! So close and put up a good match but those two MTO isn't a good sign for Murray. Hopefully he recovers as his body is clearly not able to keep up with what his mind wants to do. Good title for Berrettini though, deff going to be a threat at Wimbledon this year.

What type of seeding you think berrettini gets at wimbledon?

See this is the real question because Wimbledon's ridiculous seeding system is already kind of messy because it takes into account grass performances of the previous 2 years but Wimbledon wasn't held two years ago. Are they going to do it based on 3 years? Does that mean Federer making the final will be included?

I'm looking at the current rankings right now and Tsitsipas/Ruud and Alcaraz and FAA are above him not including the obvious big 2. So That's 6 players who normally should be seeded above him. Two of them lost in R1 last year and Alcaraz is somewhat unproven on grass. If there is any justice he should be seeded 4 but It's more likely he will be seeded 5-6

I read somewhere, could be wrong , that they have abandon the special Wimbledon seeding , and it goes now purely on ranking

According to Patrick McEnroe they have stopped that system of seeding based on grass court formula and it is now purely based on ranking like other Slams.
I was not aware of this either until I heard him say so.

Yeah , article about it here

Four is too high, but the ranking system should take into account surface results and probably current year results.

Novak, Rafa, Alcaraz, FAA, Berrettini, Ruud, Hurkacz...something like that.

Nice to see Sir Andy claw his way back into a final - I suspect it may be his last, but if that is the case I'm happy to have seen it.

Very impressive from Big BOSS Berretto, one of the most underrated and unlucky players on tour. Clearly nowhere near his best condition, he still takes the title in his first event after (yet another) major injury, surgery and 3 full months away from the tour.

With the win, Berrettini finally gives Italy its first ATP title of 2022. His 6th career title also ties him with Paolo Bertolucci for third place on our all-time list, behind Fognini (9) and Panatta (10).

I guess it seems pretty inconceivable that he won't beat those numbers sooner rather than later.

Well, Panatta has a big one... the Italian tennis community has been waiting almost half a century for that feat to be equalled. It now appears somewhat within reach, and yet still so far...

Is it really far?

Berrettini at Wimbledon or Sinner when he's healthy...not even Canada seems as sure a bet, with the ATP and the WTA covered.

Sucks to see Muzz lose like this but this tournament was very promising. Took out Stef and Nick and grabbed a set in this match against probably the best next-genner on grass (not that this means an awful lot but still).

Good win for Berrettini moving into Wimbledon,

Good win for Berrettini moving into Wimbledon,

No one will want to see Muzzah in their draw this time around.

Title #6 for Berrettini, 5th at 250 level and 2nd in Stuttgart (won previously in 2019).

2nd final of the season for Murray (after Sydney, l.to Karatsev). At least he's starting to go deep in tournaments after a long string of 1st and 2nd round exits. Hopefully he will be able to cross that line soon and add to his titles tally (currently standing at 46).

Whether he'll win a GS or not remains to be seen, but it seems hard to imagine him retiring with fewer than 10 titles. We shall see!

Interesting that nobody ever talks about how annoying and distracting Murray's grunts have become.
Especially that exaggerated HAAAH-HAAAH thing he does when he's running to reach a perfectly manageable ball.
