Next on the US Open Series, players move on to Washington DC for the Citi Open. Interesting draw with Andrey Rublev, who loads up on 500s, the last hard court M1000 winner, Taylor Fritz, and Hubert Hurkacz, who is still looking for his first hard court title on the year. Kyle Edmund makes his return to the ATP Tour after a long injury layoff.

Top Seeds:
1. Andrey Rublev
2. Hubert Hurkacz
3. Taylor Fritz
4. Reilly Opelka
5. Grigor Dimitrov
6. Denis Shapovalov
7. Karen Khachanov
8. Botic van de Zandschulp

Pick your winner in the poll!

Draw 2022
Two first round matches to watch: Kozol vs Draper and McDonald vs Ruusuvuori.

Kyle Edmund, on the comeback trail after 21 months away, wins his first ATP match in a long time against Watanuki, 64 76(8)

Kyle will now face fellow Brit Dan Evans in the next round.

Kwon and Koepfer are locked in a tight 3-set affair on Grandstand, but Dominik now holds a match point.

Murray up 5-4 on serve against Ymer. There have been four breaks of serve though, two each.

LOL at the umpire pronouncing Draper's name as "DRAH-per". Absolutely ridiculous... I mean, the man works for the frikken ATP, he umpired the Wimbledon final for cryin out loud - yet has no idea who these players are. In related news, Drahpper is an utter mess.

Was a tight tiebreak, he'll be frustrated he didn't manage it. Their stats for the first set were fairly similar though, the main difference was Ymer hitting more winners.
Pretty impressive level from Ymer although Andy is looking incredibly lethargic. Having said that, he often does lol.

The Ymer knows how to make a Swedish pancake. From a set and a break up, he has contributed mightily to Muzziah’s resurrection to 5-4 and serving for the set. Mikael will get treatment after the set. Heat is wilting him.

Draper's backhand looks very jerky. Smooth forehand though.

It's his weaker shot, but it's a short compact motion that should serve him well on the faster courts. Obviously the serve and the forehand are the real weapons. But today he was just totally off -missing sitters, spraying balls left and right. Finally picked it up just enough to take 5 consecutive games and the set from the dreadful Kozlov.

Now it’s time for Muzziah to resemble a plate of off haggis. Ymer is two points away from offering a breadstick FTW.

Man it’s getting harder and harder to be a Murray fan. Like going to an Atlanta Hawks game in the mid 2000s. You cheer and cheer, but they can’t win

The first half hour offered false advertising from Mad Man Draper that The Dude Kozlovski could abide. The lie was exposed and the slacker in his bathrobe lost all but three games after that 4-1 lead in the first set.

Could be leg injury from RI tournament? Possibly why he pulled from Atlanta
Yeah probably is something like that. I'm afraid his body seems to have just gone through too much to have any sort of consistency on the tour any more. Two finals this year is a decent achievement considering what he's been through, but those will be few and far between now.

Denis Shapovalov will take on JJ Wolf, and Taylor Fritz will play Alexei Popyrin for the first time.

Good hold by Sockyrgios.

Funky serve, racquet head started between the leg by Rojer (?)... Not enough power...
