Format: Bo3, 2 Singles & 1 Doubles

1. Netherlands vs Australia

23 November

2. Spain vs Croatia

24 November

3. Italy vs USA

4. Germany vs Canada

25 November SF #1: Winner #1 QF vs #2 QF

26 November SF Winner #3 QF vs #4 QF

27 November Final: Winner #1 SF vs Winner #2 SF

All rubbers (matches) in each tie are played the same day. Leading off are the two singles matches.

With this format there will be some huge excitement for the doubles if it is not a dead rubber.

Play is underway in Tie #1 (Netherlands vs Australia) Griekspoor has taken the first set vs Thompson. AdM vs BvdZ is to follow. Then, if necessary, it’s Purcell/Ebden vs Koolhof/Middelkoop.
 
Croatia looking strong vs Spain. Cilic would like to end the tie with a win over PCB after Coric dominated RBA. If worse comes to the worse, a rested Pavic/Metkic tandem would face Busta (2nd match today) and Granollers.
 
Cilic evens up the match 6-3 and has built a break lead in the third. As soon as I typed that, Busta breaks to level the set at 4-4.
 
Patented theft by Busta, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. He was up 4-2 in the deciding TB before the collapse to 5-7.

Croatia advances to SFs and will play Oz for a spot in the final

If Cilic played every match like he did today,, he would have 6 majors by now:rolleyes:
 
On paper, at least on the singles side, Canada would actually be the favorite. They have the highest ranked #1 player in FAA, and the highest ranked #2 player in Shapo.

I think it'll be between USA, Canada or Croatia winning it.

I wonder if Fish even considered Sock/Ram played and beat Paul (Johnson partner) in Atlanta this past summer. They also went 2-1 in the September DC ties. Total Fish brain fart.

Not sure what your issue is my man, but I know you ain't watching a single match. Probably just following scores. Played horrible the first set. 3rd set was all Shapo, good stuff

just found out USA lost ,,, what kind of idiocy is this after great match by Fritz ?? Sock lost to 2 baseliner singles guys ?????? What kind of turkey did Sock eat before the match ??:rolleyes:

You’re great at calling a result before the last point is won or lost. I’m betting you didn’t realize Canada has now had comebacks in three of the last four years when trailing in a decisive dubs rubber. @jindra is both observant and correct.

I comment what I see and they played a terrible first set. Not sure what's the issue with that?! I barely got to watch tennis the last few years so yeah....I would've still played FAA instead of Vasek. Just like I would've played Ram in doubles and Nakashima in singles instead of Tiafoe.

Why put your top singles player on the court when Popsicle was available, Coach? They started slow but weren’t “embarrassing” themselves in the end.

There’s a decent chance Felix plays three days in a row and your “logic” is to put more on his plate. Nice one!

It's like complaining about sitting not sitting LeBron or KD in a winner takes all NBA finals lol It's the last tournament of the year and FAA played a two setter before the match with a guaranteed day off the day after. I would've played my best man since it was my best chance to win. Payed off anyways and I see the case behind both reasonings. Not sure what's the issue here. And yes, when I posted it they were indeed getting embarrassed by a very formidable doubles team. Raised their level for the next two sets, especially Shapo. Which is never a given

Anyone knows what made them throw in Thompson instead of Ebden? Injury? Didn't that pair beat Mektic/Pavic in the Wimbledon final?

Pospisil is a double specialist and Shapo is very successful in doubles with Bopanna too.
