Carlos is clutch ngl. Also Cerundolo is showing that his great form against Nadal at Wimbledon wasnt one off after winning a title and now dismantling Rublev
 
The FH stab save in the TB turned the tide, forcing Krajinovic to play one more shot. Alcaraz then transitioned to offense so quickly that the pass with the backhand was cake. Exquisite footwork to pull that off from the dubs alley and get to the pass with plenty of time.
 
Another matchup between Karen and Carlitos. I hope this next one is good, after that last match. It was a bit strange, IIRC.

Loud grunting shouldn't be allowed. Alcaraz deliberately screamed louder on every shot during the last point of the first set. It's ridiculously loud and I could see that it distracted Krajinovic.
 
One set all in Karatsev-Cerundolo. It's been an ugly match, with both guys taking turns to spray unforced errors and gift their opponent points and games. It looked as though Cerundolo was in the clear up 6-3 4-1 largely thanks to Karatsev's muggery, but he then decided winning points was beneath him and conceded five straight games to lose the set.

At the moment Karatsev looks the likelier winner, but he could well implode again.
 
Karatsev is playing some nice tennis now, up a break in the third.

Cerundolo hasn't been at the races, having a poor serving day and not finding his range on the forehand. Fatigue from all the matches he's been playing probably now taking its toll.
 
Karatsev has reverted to type, gifts Cerundolo the break back. On serve in the third, 3-3.

To me, to you. Cerundolo down a break again without Karatsev having to hit a winner.

Dammit! Just when I thought I'd said something original... Then again, I feel like my simile is better at conveying the idea of pure futility. If you run into a nice thick chowder or a good ol' Campbells Chunky, you might still be able to fish up something.
 
Karatsev served at 68% while Cerundolo served at 52%, which allowed Karatsev to dictate the direction of most of the rallies. I thought he played pretty smartly, going after the backhand exchanges, and he had the higher highs in the match, but ultimately he just misses too much.

Cerundolo didn't play well but by the end of the match started to find his forehand and that was key. A very good gutsy win for him, onto the semi-finals.

Without his forehand he is a journeyman, maybe in the top 300. With that forehand he has pretty high ceiling.

Carlos comes out firing today against Khachanov. 3-0 up first set with a double break, even with Karen’s first serve at a high percentage

Very entertaining first set with Molcan edging Coric 9-7 in the TB. Only 2 BPs and they were saved by the lefty at 15-40, 5-all.
 
Feel for Born Again Coric. The crafty Mulch Man would have been a handful regardless, but it was a real interesting match. The silver lining is that Coric is slowly but steadily returning to the levels he belongs at - hopefully this new issue doesn't slow down his comeback too much.
 
At 0-4, 30-40 Kach ripped a ball into the stands in frustration.
He could easily have taken an eye out or worse.
Doesn anyone know if he was fined?
 
I suspect we will get an Alcaraz vs Cerundolo final - I don't think Molcan will trouble Carlos and Cerundolo has been playing really well the past two weeks.

Alcaraz for the win of course!
