2021 Claysipas says hi. Tsitsipas is a MUCH better clay courter than Zverev. The only way Zverev can win on this surface is on cool night conditions on a high altitude clay court like Madrid.
What did Tsitsipas do except for winning some MC titles with easy draws? Still 0 wins over Djokovic on clay. Even Alcaraz already surpassed him in that.

Zverev is a more dangerous player for all of the big 3.

What did Zverev do except win a few irrelevant Madrid titles? What did he ever do in RG lol. Tsitsipas is a RU at RG. Oh, in fact he beat Zverev in RG semi last year.

Won Rome in 2017 maybe? Also played a close final in Rome 2018. His general problems in BO5 are known, but when in form, he is a much more dangerous player, especially against the big 3.

That Rome 2017 tournament was one of the best Zverev has ever played imo

I think you’re right that his peak is a bit higher than Tsitsipas’s. But where day-to-day consistency is concerned, I think Tsitsipas is definitely the better clay-courter.

Plus, you know, Tsitsipas has the French Open in his favor.

Isn't it 12:30 a.m. in Madrid?

On to yet another third set decider! :)

Scheduling is absolutely awful, it’s past midnight in Madrid. No player should have to finish his semi final and play a final the same day
True.

But a couple of times Alcaraz did have to do double duty and did it successfully. So it's nice that he finally catches a break.

Back when Nadal was still relevant on the surface (not the case anymore) I was always worried about him facing Zverev. That's an opponent who has the game to hurt him.

You worry about anyone Nadal faces so I don’t know how seriously I should take that admission.

In the DO conditions definitely. I'm talking about the days when there was still normal clay. Who was the more dangerous opponent for him? The answer is clear.

This is just what we need, tbh. First of all, Tsitsipas is Alcaraz's well-established pigeon at this point, so the Zverev match is a more interesting one anyway, but more than that, can you imagine how humiliating it will be for Zverev, who thinks so much of himself, to be humbled by a (hopefully) free-flowing Alcaraz? Like, Stefanos is already a broken man at this point, Zverev came into this year with dreams of being the man.

Glad it's gone to a third set. Unlike Carlos these two will be affected by a three set match and it being so late at night too. I want Carlos to win of course! :)

I live for the day when someone finally kicks the Philosopher's dad out of the stadium lol...
Every time they show Stefanos's dad in the stands I probably unfairly like Stefanos less! Really, they should stop showing him in the stands since I can tolerate Stefanos so much better! (;

I hope Carlos wins as Zverev winning would feel like big vulturing.

I like Alcaraz as much as the next guy, but I am not so sure about his chances against Zverev. Z leads the H2H 2-0 and both were very comfortable wins. Also, this is probably Sascha's best court right now.

In your opinion, is RG now the Alcaraz Open after his win over Djokovic?
I'm not buying the hype. Dimitrov also beat Djokovic in Madrid 2013, but when they met in RG a few weeks later he struggled to put 2 shots in a row inside the court. Let's see what Alcaraz can do in BO5. Right now, Djokovic still looks like a lock to another 3 slam year.

Tsits looks like he's reached his ceiling. If he doesn't do something pronto, he won't be winning anything else this year.

Seems hard to imagine it even being possible :-D

He's playing much better between the two of them, and is just generally a whole world away from being the guy he was the couple of times that Zverev beat him. More than that, the day time conditions will probably suit him better, he seems to thrive with the crowd behind him, Zverev will probably have more pressure on him, and he's going to have what, 6 hours less rest? Barring injury, Zed would have to go into god mode for it to happen.

Which, admittedly, is possible:rolleyes::oops:

Alcaraz is the babyface tennis needs. Zverev is the heel tennis needs.
